Whats up with all the people angry at the Stinger?

Looking through YouTube and Reddit (and other car forums), people are EXTREMELY angry at the Stinger saying its a poor mans car, it sucks, blah blah blah. They are angry its compared to BMWs and Audi's and MB lower trim levels. I guess people who own the Stinger call it a BMW M class killer, did people really say this? I don't care what people think because this car and the warranty will hold up super well. Hell, my 2007 Kia Sportage held up well, I don't understand the mantra "Kias were shit until like 2017". I guess I'm just dumbfounded at how much hate this car gets with no objective evidence backing it up.

Rant over...

I don't believe Stinger owners think they own a "M killer". To be honest I'm on the forums a lot and have never seen mention of that until this thread. It's a long way from an M killer, 1 lap around the Nurburgring would prove that. What the Stinger is, is a very practical sporty liftback that just happens to be a blast to drive and offer straight line performance numbers that rival some very big names in the sports car business. It was built and engineered by the prior head of the BMW M division and designed by a prior Audi designer. I think the car rubs a lot of the German car guys the wrong way so it definitely has it's share of haters online.

I have to laugh sometimes at the targeted Google ads that show up in here. Just because I'm reading a post about a BC Ferry doesn't mean I'm interested in building one ... :p

Sorry, but our Stingers don’t have quad exhaust, lol!
To be accurate, not that I have looked under my car. Don't they have a dual exhaust, one either side with two exhaust outlets ,so they have quad exhaust Outlets.

Technically the outlets are only one per side as well. But they are pushed into the dual exhaust TIPS. So the car has dual exhaust attached to quad tips.

To be fair there are quite a few posts and posters here who frequently express their disdain for anything non-Stinger.

Car people (including our benevolent Stinger owners) are tribal. Simple as that.

It's an unnecessary distinction because all quad exhaust means is quad exhaust tips from the muffler. This is true for any car. No one is trying to package 4 distinct pipes and mufflers for an exhaust system. Maybe Pagani's with their unique header and exhaust design, but that is surely not what the definition that quad exhaust is based on.

Regardless, the fact remains. The Stinger has quad exhaust tips not quad exhaust. There are two pipes flowing from the engine to bumper, not four.

And I'm saying that's stating the obvious, and whatever you are defining as a real quad exhaust, doesnt really exist. The term quad exhaust means quad tips, it's how everyone uses it, it's how it is always used, so going around correcting people to say quad tips is just not correct.

In either case I am not trying to pull this off topic, it's the last I will say on the subject.

I didn't correct anyone. Someone asked a question. I provided an answer. You're actually the one attempting to correct someone. Re-read the thread.

Good. :lipsaresealed:

They are pissed since they have to live with the fact they over paid. I came from M’s and AMG’s. Sure, I miss the mind boggling power but I’m not a badge snob and I honestly love the fact that KIA and Hyundai are making new and exciting cars year after year while other companies make the same turd with a new wood grain.

Sometimes it’s a different colour turd!

True and we can become defensive about things we like. A true car enthusiast will like a car’s qualities not based on brand but what it offers, asthetically, performance wise etc.I own a Stinger but like other cars too, always liked Corvettes ,Nissan GTR ‘s and Dodge Challenger’s but I know I will never own one but I can admire them for what they are.

I've discovered that people online pretty much hate everything for no good reason at all if it doesn't align well with their allegiance/loyalty/fanboyism to some corporate entity that they've decided to love.

This is pretty much why I'm done with the local car scene here. If you don't drive something Japanese or a German car, you're basically told to pound sand, especially if you show up with something Korean.

All I know is my Stinger checks all my boxes. I want for no other car that I see on the road. It's beautiful, fast, economical and practical... and has a good long warranty. Most other "sports" cars sacrifice on economy, and practicality and have short warranties. I can get just shy of 34 MPG on the highway. Can fit all kinds of stuff in the cargo hatch... and she turns heads... :)

This is the perfect car for me.

The only criticism I have is on the brake rotors warping issue and also the Lane Keep Assist keeps telling me to hold the steering wheel when cruising... other than that... perfect.

"The Stinger looks like a blend of 3 cars, it's so ugly!" "The Stinger looks like a cheap car" "But it's a Kia" These comments make me laugh and enrage me at the same time. I still have to train myself lol. I just can't believe people have convinced themselves that $3k-$5k for repairs every year for a German car is normal. "You can't lease a German car for under $5k per year so the repairs are so worth it!" Lmao

People often badmouth what they don't understand, whether it's a Kia, BMW, MB, AUDI, etc. The ignorance should always be ignored. It's not personal.

Not to get off-topic. But please cite your source(s) for the $3,000-$5,000 annual repair cost regarding German brands.

It was on some audi/bmw forum. They said owning a german car out of warranty will cost you about $3k-$5k so set that aside every year. Idk about an official source though.

Just for a point of reference, warranty work on my Stinger in the first 14 months of ownership exceeded $6300.00. While this wasn't my cost, I also did without my Stinger for 23 days during that 14 months.

Cars aren't cheap regardless of brand.
