Whats up with all the people angry at the Stinger?

Looking through YouTube and Reddit (and other car forums), people are EXTREMELY angry at the Stinger saying its a poor mans car, it sucks, blah blah blah. They are angry its compared to BMWs and Audi's and MB lower trim levels. I guess people who own the Stinger call it a BMW M class killer, did people really say this? I don't care what people think because this car and the warranty will hold up super well. Hell, my 2007 Kia Sportage held up well, I don't understand the mantra "Kias were shit until like 2017". I guess I'm just dumbfounded at how much hate this car gets with no objective evidence backing it up.

People like to bitch about anything and everything, especially on the internet and behind a screen. Kia had quality issues back in the late 90's and early 2000's, where cars were susceptible to mechanical issues and were generally a step or two down from a Honda or Toyota. Many people call it a poor man's BMW because of the Kia badge. -As if badges nowadays mean anything-. I'm sure you understand that most arguments online are fueled by biased opinions, not proven facts. I don't think the Stinger is an M Killer because of BMW's tuning technology on their M cars and the type of power they can extract from a 4-cylinder turbo car. But the Stinger is definitely having a go at Audi and BMW as a more budget-friendly GT car.

Also, many of the angry people are those who are BMW and Audi fanboys mad at the fact that their top designers and engineers were recruited by Kia/Hyundai.

I’ve noticed this too and I enjoy “feeding these haters/trolls” by asking them to prove their point as to why the stinger is bad or cheap or slow or whatever. These encounters usually end with me proving them wrong and them hating on Kia

I just drive KNOWING or THINKING I have a better looking, better performing and cheaper car than most of those Audi, BMW and Mercedes owners.

I just really can't wrap my mind around it. This car is WAYYYY cheaper (lease incentives, immediate buyout) for way more performance with a nice aftermarket too. I understand the temptation of buying a used CPO German sedan for $30K-$40K, but why the hell would you want less warranty and steep repair bills? Maybe it's because I haven't driven an M5 but the Stinger is good for 10 years 100K at the minimum. Not 3 years, 36K. Also I can see this car being an M killer if you install the tuning chip and get some upgrades, but I digress.

BMW and Audi cars look sooooo boring in comparison to the Stinger. Just recycled designs with a new model year tag

I don't get involved in the online banter but I do enjoy telling my buddies who're into German cars about all the features my loaded Stinger has that they had to pay an obscene amount of money for. What puts a smile on my face is knowing that I could buy two Stingers for the price of their cars and get relatively the same enjoyment when it comes to looks, longevity, functionality, reliability, and performance.

Honestly, the only thing they have that we don't is better customer service for vehicle maintenance. Is that worth the German luxury tax? Not for me it isn't.

No one likes to have the proof of a ridiculous overspend put in their face. Most are trying to justify in their minds that the extra $30,000-$40,000 they spent on their German car to get the same or LESS features as our Stingers. I think it hurts them to know the Stinger is also faster unless its a M Series or Audi RS, in which case its $60-$70K more they spent.

I was getting on the Ferry in Victoria BC last weekend. Sitting in line up waiting and this nice guy comes walking up to my car and geeks out over it. I could see his wife sitting in their little Hyundai smiling and shaking her head at him. I have never had a car that elicits that kind of response from someone in real life. I guess he had been obsessing over the Stinger on line, watching you tube vids etc and was pumped to see one in the wild for the first time. Certainly not the response you see over another 3 series or A4.

Most of the haters have never sat inside a Stinger let alone driven one.Their opinions mean squat, they are narrow minded people that still believe Kia's are worthless. Kia as a Brand has improved and transformed over the last 15 years or so and now one of the top Brands for reliability etc.
The cars I have seen Brocken down with their hazards lights on tend to be Holdens and BMW's. I have not yet seen any Kia's in that predicament.
Last 6 years, we have owned Kia's and not had any mechanical issues with them at all.
So haters can keep hating, I don't give a damn, they can keep throwing money into their mobile money pits.

I used to tell people that I drive a Kia Stinger, but now I just say "I drive a Kia". I no longer see the need to validate what I drive through words and don't want to explain to people what a "Stinger" is. Actions are louder than words

I also do the "I just drive a kia" thing. I only go into detail for the people who ask follow up questions, because those are the ones that actually care

I think the 'haters' are the uninformed who have no knowledge at all of what a Stinger really is. Even at work, people can't believe I spent over $60000 AUD on a Kia. It's their mentality that all Kia's are cheap cars. They really haven't be keeping up with how Kia has progressed in the last 10 years. Most of them also wouldn't even know what sort of car a Stinger is so their opinion is worth very little to me.

Sorry, but our Stingers don’t have quad exhaust, lol!
