Don't want to continue the hijack of this thread but...
You do realize that the only thing that this device is doing is just remapping how much throttle the engine applies for a certain amount of pedal travel? You can achieve the same effect with your foot.
And this would do nothing to cause the trans to shift faster.
As for downpipe Hp/tq benefit, I don't see that there is much if any gains to be had. The 3.3 is a small engine and from taking a look at the exhaust pipes on my car, they are sized very nicely and I doubt there is much if any restriction in them. Each side of the exhaust after the cats near the turbos is at least 2" diameter (maybe 2.25) and this is more than enough.
Thanks for the feedback. But I think you misunderstood what I meant by downshifting. What I was asking is, does the wind booster just make you downshift to get the "immediate power" or does it keep you in the same gear and just respond faster when you push the pedal down? I asked that question because I don't want the car to auto-downshift every time I touch the pedal. It sounds like that isn't the case, which I like. I wasn't asking if it makes the transmission physically shift faster
I know the wind booster won't add an ounce of power to the car, but if the pedal responds faster, then it's money well spent for me, personally.
Your consensus on the secondary DP HP/TQ benefit seems to be what most people are saying. Anecdotally, people, even Tonkabob, have said that an upgraded secondary seems to make the car feel fast more consistently. Whereas without the secondary, they feel like the car feels equally as fast on most runs, but occasionally doesn't feel as fast.
Who knows, maybe it has to do with how the efficiency of the stock secondary changes over temperature. After all, metal expands as temp increases so maybe the honeycomb in the stock CAT expands and becomes more restrictive as temperature increases. That would explain why removing the cat feels fast more consistently. All speculation, but at the end of the day, it seems that for people who are specifically focused on racing, money is better spent elsewhere.
I'm still planning on getting secondaries if not just for the slight increase in sound without going ultra-loud with a cat back. Once I get them, I'll take a bunch of JB4 logs and see if there's anything noticeable in timing, shift points, throttle response relative to pedal input, etc.
Originally, I was going to get an FMIC first, but Mishimoto likely isn't going to release theirs until the end of July and my money is starting to burn a hole in my pocket lol. Ark's sale on their secondaries is also pretty tempting right now so I may start there and get the FMIC next month.
