What's good catch can?

I probably would have used a drop of motor oil to lube the o-rings. Haven't gotten my catch can yet, but I don't see why using a very small amount of oil would be a problem. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
 
Agree. Never had any problems using that approach on oil filter o-rings, so....

he said i think 6,000 miles and the dude lives in Canada but if he would have had the BMS He might never have a problem...I travel a lot ...a run from NY to Vegas or even California..I never stay in hotels I drive with either my wife or a co worker straight through...I Average about 900 miles in about 14 hours so if I drive for 42 hours that’s some serious miles in... just to be clear I’m using my circumstance which is an extreme... BMS might work for me ...maybe it can be overwhelmed... I myself like The ability to open it up and check it out... everyone is different
I just realize some thing I see both catch cans full...I think This video proves dual catch cans help... both cans Did catch oil and Liquids right? So a dual Would be more beneficial long-term just my opinion going back to sleep now thanks

I just installed the SXTH ELEMENT 3.3TT SINGLE CATCH CAN and noticed a almost hissing noise that seems to be coming from the can. Is this normal?

Trying to figure out how to upload a video. Once I do I can share the audio.
 
Checked the o ring, and it's seated properly with the can snugged up nicely all the way till close. Looking and listening closer this morning, the noise sounds like it's coming more from where the hose is hooked up to the intake manifold.

The hissing noise also doesn't happen till the engine is warm, and seems to not be 100% constant.

Lastly, if I pinch a hose, the noise goes away. See video links below.

The car is running/driving great, builds boost, no leaks...at least to what I can feel.

Thanks, Nozzleman. It seems to be running/driving fine so far so not sure the issue, if there is one.

I also emailed SXTH Element, and this is their reply:

“Very interesting there Tim. I hear it and see what happens in your new videos. It is almost impossible to tell where it is coming from sitting here. If the car is running normally i see no harm but for curiosity sake, I'd find a way to pressure test the system and see if you can spot a leak of sorts.”

If I figure this out I’ll post it up here.
 
did you check the can it self? to make sure it is screwed in all the way in, or that there are no crossed threads on the head (where the hoses attach to)

Yep, I checked the can, the threads and o-ring...all are good.

I did find that the noise is coming from where the hose is connected to the PCV. I took off the OCC and hoses, put the OEM hose back on, no noise. I looked over the whole OCC and hoses I then reinstalled it and the noise came back. I used the 'ol screwdriver to ear method all around the hoses and connections and found the source directly on the PCV nipple connection. Not sure if I have the hose clamp on too tight, but I had to stop messing with it and get back to work. I might try trimming the hose slightly and using the stock hose clamp to see if that works.

Well, back in the day, before there was so much smog s**t on cars, I remember that I could pull the PCV valve out of the grommet it goes into on the valve cover (hose still attached, so it was pulling vacuum), and sometimes you could hear the valve "singing" as it vibrated at a high frequency, I suspect this is the way they work, to regulate the amount of air flow through it. It would stop when you plugged it back into the valve cover as it would encounter less flow. So perhaps with the OCC on, it is changing the flow dynamic in the crankcase just enough to get the valve to make noise.
If you have all the hoses nice and tight, and no other issues, it is probably fine.

No, it shouldn't. They would have to prove that the OCC caused the damage that would lead to potential warranty work. Even then, it would be limited to what they could directly prove. In other words, they couldn't deny warranty claims for say the radio because you put an OCC on the engine.
