No doubt people who are buying Stingers are proud enthusiast, so we need to have a universal hand gesture for when we see another Stinger on the road. Some dude gave me the "rock on" gesture the other day and I panicked.

Great idea, but in this world where people are desperate to take offense at any perceived anything, it's a very very short trip from "we gave our Kia recognition signal" to "they flashed the white power sign to each other!".

I've waved at other Stinger owners but it's either completely ignored or met with total bewilderment. When I had my Jeep, they always waved. Corvette, too. No love in the Stinger yet.

I have a hand gesture for many drivers (mostly Prius, and white van drivers, and others that drive in the passing lane) but not suitable for Stinger drivers
The issue is some hand gestures represent VERY different things in different parts of the world...

Why the hand gesture? Last stinger I saw we did 3 honks & oddly enough we both knew exactly what to do!

probably got the idea from the san diego utility worker that got fired over a hand gesture.
yes, that's exactly right.

And in fact, it appears as if that incident was provoked specifically by someone looking to stir up trouble.

Pretty simple.....

Thumb up works for me. Nobody else would be noticing anyway. I've had no reactions from any other (of the few) Stinger drivers that I've given the thumb up to, either, so it doesn't matter. But, theoretically, If we saw each other approaching and gave a big grin and a thumb up over the steering wheel, it should be obvious that we're offering congratulations on a superb choice in automobiles.

I usually just wave when driving past or rev when I'm next to one . I've definitely waved or revved at a few members of this forum in the Pittsburgh area

I have yet to see people driving with their windows down (Washington) so I try to flash them or use my hazards lol....

I believe that Jeeps, Harleys, Corvettes, etc. wave to each other and know what to do because those vehicles have a long history and pedigree to go with it. The Stinger is still new and does not have that yet- and TBH, likely never will. Additionally, these things are usually organic and cannot be manufactured. It's akin to having a meeting to design a viral video/message; one cannot do that because, as a true virus, the virality is uncontrollable by the host.

Like most others, when I give a gesture to other Stinger owners, I usually get a dumbfounded look. I'll still do it because there's no harm in being nice and complimenting people on a good choice.
