I believe a tow hookWhat is this small door/plate (circled) on the front passenger side, and should it sit flush? As you can see, mine is NOT flush (and has been this way since brand new) Thanks!

yup , tow hook , and mine is just like yours , I'm trying to find a small suction cup to pull it flush
no spring...friction fit only with some tiny "lips" Press it hard in and it will release. then slot back in. mine came this way tooThanks, I noticed it has a small arrow on it as well, but didn't try to open, I wonder if it's like a spring loaded push-to-open? But yes, it's a little annoying that it doesn't sit flush.
What side of the plate should you press? The right side is where it is pushed in. Do you push further there? Or the opposite side so that the right side comes out? I don't want to push hard in the wrong place....no spring...friction fit only with some tiny "lips" Press it hard in and it will release. then slot back in. mine came this way too
I think it slides in place and clicks. It’s in the manual.yup , tow hook , and mine is just like yours , I'm trying to find a small suction cup to pull it flush
Push on the side that is already pushed in....there is a little arrow or triangle there. push thatWhat side of the plate should you press? The right side is where it is pushed in. you know what I mean ........the actual hook is that nice little thang that rattles around on top of the spare tire !Just use a credit card to pop it out and reinstall it flush. It has a little tether that keeps it connected to the bumper.
It isn't a tow-hook, though. It houses the female end for the huge tow hook bolt located with the spare tire tools. If your car ever needs to towed the tow dude will pull that cover off, screw the male end into that slot, and use the eyelet on it to hook to the tow truck to pull it onto the bed.
It's the cover for the license plate holder![]()
I've had three warnings and none of the cops have mentioned my lacking a plate in front. Hopefully this will continue (not the warnings! the blind eye toward no plate in front). But if I ever have to put a plate on, I will look into using that tow hook hole rather than drill out my nose!I'm rolling without a front license plate in Ohio currently. 3 months and I haven't had any issues. Do you keep it on all the time? If you look around there are more cars than you'd expect without a front plate. Cars not registered in Ohio don't need a front plate so I think the cops are desensitized to it. My dad also hasn't written a ticket for a car missing a front plate in 30 years.
Sorry that you must have a front plate...really takes away from the look of the carIt's the cover for the license plate holder![]()
Agreed, this is better option than drilling. Perhaps manufacturers should add a threaded install point center of bumper for this.
