Instead of the Mach-E, what if Ford made a 4dr Mustang GT?? Would you have bought that instead? I always thought Ford should have done that instead of the Mach E. I probably would be driving that instead.

I mean ford did have the Focus RS and the Taurus SHO a few years back. SHO is pretty much a Ford Stinger

I guess I was thinking in the sport back styling and under the Mustang brand!

I woulda been all over it.

And the SHO was very different. I test drove one also. Not even close to the same.

A Mustang inspired 4 door low slung GT sedan, I wouldn’t have even thought twice

Yup, most definitely in a heartbeat. I bought the stinger because I need AWD, somewhat decent fuel economy, and 4 doors for work purposes. If Ford had a performance contender I’d be on it.

I will never personally own a Ford product, so it's moot for me.

However, they would have lost a sale since my wife drives an Electric Pony.

Nah, I'm good with my gen 2 Ford Lightning. I remember when the latest version of the SHO came out, I wasn't impressed, car was way too big, like Dodge Charger big, yet the interior somehow felt claustrophobic.

I do wish that GM coulda done an awd version of the Chevy SS, that I would most definitely own instead of the Stinger I'm sure.

I've driven the Mustang and I'd say its not on the same calibre of the Stinger. Does not have the finesse of the Stinger.

The problem with the Stinger is people in North America want bigger vehicles with lots of space, good visibility, good fuel mileage and that are easy to get in and out of. I think regardless of what brand released the Stinger it never wouldve become a sales king even if it was electric.

Ford was the first to kill basically most of their sedans, correct? The general public wants boring CUV's/SUVs don't think it being a Ford woulda saved it. Although they might've sold a few more just for the fact that it's not a Kia.

My gut tells me one of the problems with the Stinger is the Kia badge.
Both Kia and Hyundai are still on a lot of peoples don't buy list, mostly because of what the Koreans put on the road 25-30 years ago.
Once a reputation has been established, it's very difficult to change.
The opposite is true as well. I know lots of people that buy Hondas and Toyotas without looking at anything else.
They are buying the name plate, regardless of how bad the actual product may be.
If the Stinger had a different badge on the trunk lid, I'm betting sales would have been a lot higher.

KIA badge definitely didnt help but everything about the car is sporty, low slung, hard to get in out of with fancy brakes and lots of power, it's just not going to appeal to the masses, nor do I think that was KIA's objective anyway. It was just a look what I can do car for them to help flip the brand impression everyone had about KIA.

I think you're right.
Kia was making a statement that said, hey, look at what we can do. We can make more than just cheap SUV's and compact cars.
Job done in my opinion.
After owning my car for less than a month, it definitely attracts attention.
I was at Canadian Tire yesterday dropping off some rims and tires from my Mazda, and pretty much every guy in the shop stopped doing what they were doing and just stared at the car. Two techs actually came over to have a closer look and ask questions.
So far I'm very proud to be an owner of one of these machines.

The first and last ford product in this family was some 30 years ago. Never again!
Et tu? :) My first car was a POS 1980 4cyl Mustang. In over 35+yrs, I saw no reason why that wouldn't remain my last.

^^It was an '89 or '90 E150 conversion van. When the fords still had that f?cked up steering. Drove it to the east coast. Talk about a strenuous driving experience. Had to work hard to keep it straight else it wanted to go all over the place.

Also remember doing plugs on it.

First and only Ford I had was an '88 Bronco that was basically handed down to me. While I enjoyed driving it, I hated that the 302 valve covers would always wind up loosening up after a while and start leaking oil. I'd replace the gaskets, seal it, torque them down (didn't require much) and they'd eventually loosen up again and leak. Happened to the '86 T-bird we had as well, also with the 302. Even spent the extra on the rubber gaskets instead of the cork ones. Both vehicles I had after the Bronco never once had leaking valve covers.

OMG so true! Damn state inspection constantly telling me the tie rods/ball joints had to be replaced because there was too much play in the steering wheel. 1 year later, same issue. Finally found an inspection station that knew about the issue and didn't fail me constantly for it.
