What does the Kia Stinger need for the second generation?

My biggest gripe is definitely the lack of UVO connectivity here in the states. So my list would be:

  • UVO Connectivity for remote start controls, etc.
  • Column mounted shift paddles
  • LSD (Limited Slip Differential) for all models
  • Automatic up/down for all windows. My cheap VW Passat had this.
  • Functional hood vents, I don't want them to just remove the fake ones I like the look, it's different.
  • Built in security cam, at least for the front of the car for driving.
  • Full digital gauge cluster with their new blind spot monitoring cameras that appear in the cluster would be nice.
  • Updates to the HUD to include things like the turn signals.
  • Bigger infotainment screen, doesn't have to be huge but it needs to be a little better than it is now IMO.
This is just a wish list for me, by no means are these things I'm demanding, or think they absolutely have to have. Besides the remote start and all that, for a halo car this is woefully lacking.

what car has a security cam besides the Sentry system in Teslas?

the auto up and down on all windows I agree, that’s a wtf..

Most of your list is due to cost cutting. If Stingers received full digital displays and the rest of your list, it would cost as much as a S5 fastback. $70k fully optioned out. Kia wouldn’t of been able to sell at that price point.

I'm aware adding things adds to the price, as I said my list is a wish list which is kind of the point of this thread isn't it? My only real issue with the car is the lack of things you can do with the UVO app when they offer more to other countries.

I think all new cars should come with a dash cam and I bet much like a back up cam it will be the norm at some point. But I think you would be surprised how many cars actually do have built in dash cams, a lot of them have them for track purposes and valet modes so they're out there.

Something like a digital dash is not asking that much, it's a part they already have available. I think overall your estimation is high, I don't see $20k in upgrades there considering some of the items are things they already offer, just not in the states, and other things like turn signals in the HUD are simple software tweaks. Even the most expensive upgrades aren't that expensive.

Do you at least use the paddles?

these paddle shifters aren’t even in the same arena as driving a stick. True DCT is kinda in the same arena as driving a manual but still not that close.

I don’t ever use my paddles in my Stinger cause it makes me feel disappointed. It’s about the only thing I heavily dislike about this car.

before I get flamed about buying an automatic car and then bitching about paddle shifters. I bought this car to shuttle around my newborn. This is my “Dad mobile”

I don't use mine much either, I had a DSG in my GTI and while it's certainly fun and works well on a track it's still not a manual. But in bumper to bumper traffic, which is sadly most of my driving, I don't miss a true manual.

I go over a lot of tall hills, mainly my paddles are used for engine breaking. But they're better than nothing when I do get the rare chance to carve up a canyon. I'd like to see the top trim model get a DSG.

I've been driving manuals for about 15 years so I'm honestly missing that a lot. This guy near my house has a BMW Z3M Roadster and I'm tempted to see if he'd sell it just so I have a weekend toy to row some gears with, haha

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Kinda sucks that Kia/Hyundai don’t have a DCT that can handle this power level. They seem to be pretty in love with this in house 8 speed unit cause they put it in everything. I really can’t see them using the ZF8 either cause it will drive up costs. The ZF8 in a Stinger would of been magical

^ H/K's new wet 8 spd DCT is able to handle that kind of power, but it's for FWD/AWD application and going into N, N-Line and GT variants.

The original Genesis sedan had the ZF8.

The full digital cluster is reportedly going into the US-spec (new) Optima.

well kiss my grits, the original Hyundai Genesis has a ZF8

Genesis has gotten the shifting in the 8 spd fairly quick, but not to the level of the ZF8.

Still, it's better than what Infiniti and Lexus offer in their sedans.

Yeah in my wifes IS350 it’s pure ass

Surprised I haven't seen this one yet (unless I missed it), but...

6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION on a GT2 AWD. All cars should have 3 pedals.

Hyundai/Kia mated it to the 2.0T (G70) already, so they have the know how.

Honestly, this is the only thing that has me looking to trade the Stinger right now.
My Kia has 4 paddles.
2 on the floor, and 2 behind the steering wheel. :D

Something else I thought of that would be nice to have if you've ever had it: the ability to roll your windows up and down using the key fob or the button on the door handle. VW has this and it's really nice if you forget to roll up a window or close the sunroof or something, or the car is just really hot and you want to open all the windows and let it air out.
