What did you pay for your Kia Stinger?

Just negotiate on the price of the car, then after that’s settled, say you’d like to balloon finance (if they offer it). You’ll get the lease rebates and be set with low monthly payments from either KMF or the dealers 3rd party lender of choice. Then turn around and pay it off cash, or refinance with your bank or credit union. Refinance should be fairly straight forward, as it’s just refinancing a loan already in your name, as opposed to the bank buying out a lease which is not in your name.

That makes sense - thank you very much for the explanation. Should I turn around and re-finance after the 1st month/payment like a standard lease buyout??

Negotiated price down to $37.5k after lease cash. Turned around and bought out the next day. Not bad for new 19 gt2 awd since dealers around here were listing used 18's for 35-38 range and wouldn't budge on price over email.

Bought a Preowned 2019 Premium 2.0 AWD Certified with 1500 on the odometer for 30k+TTL. With all the lease acq. fees and buyouts it pretty much was a wash at the end for leasing verse this. Just came down to color choice.

I pick up my ‘19 GT2 on Thursday
It’s used but only has 2,300 mi. Got it for $37k. Best deal I could work after a month of looking and negotiating.
I second the comment about dealers not budging on price, with used car dealers saying “we know what we have, and it’s a rare car, so I don’t have any wiggle room.“

Following up on my question regarding balloon payments: Right now KIA is offering $6900 lease cashback offer for the 2020 GT on a 24 month term. Say I purchase that car with balloon financing and then turn around after a month to refinance with my CU for a straight term loan. Does the dealership typically charge an early termination fee or will they be screwing me over if they try to charge me one? Also will I be simply refinancing on the principle amount?

Bought Micro Stinger GT $29,300 + Taxes. MSRP $41,036. I am in Houston, TX and did balloon financing. Most of the disount came from the rebates 8,000+ and I will pay loan balance after first payment. I feel this is a solid deal and much thanks to this forum. I had no idea Stringers were being discounted so heavily! Drives just as good as my Porsche Panamera.

Is this on a 2019 GT or the 20 GT ?

I did the balloon a month ago on a GT1 since TX has double taxation. Refinanced it with my CU after couple of weeks.

Straight up refinance on principal plus the charge incurred until the time of refinance(say 2 weeks in my case). No early termination or any hidden charges on the balloon finance.

I got the Blue GT1 from Joe Meyers as well.. about a month ago. got it fro $37k OTD.

I'm looking to buy a white 2020 GT AWD here in Washington state. Unfortunately, there are no RWD cars here anywhere in the state. My first round at the dealer this weekend, I was offered the car at $38,558 before taxes and fees. I know I can do a lot better than that, but I am not sure what to come back with for a 2020. Most of the talk on this forum seems to be for 2019s (but it is not always clear reading the posts). There are not many 2019s left on the lots here.

If I came back at them with $36K for the car (before taxes and fees) is that still to high for a basic GT AWD? Their sticker is a ridiculous $44,575.

I would be financing with 0.9% 66 mo and get $1500 rebate for trade-in.

Yep, it seems like PNW virtually has no RWD, only AWD, and mostly equipped with all-seasons (even across a few other car brands).
2020 is too new to get a great discount, and on top of that, lease cash is a few thousands less for 2020 vs 2019.

Traveling to California (like I did) will get you RWD with summer tires and a couple grand cheaper in offers. Also, what are the dealer-addons that make the MSRP go up nearly $5k?

There are no physical dealer add-ons. The car doesn't even come with floor mats. It just says "dealer markup". I feel sorry for the folks that pay sticker. There must be a lot of people walking around Seattle with money falling out of their pockets to justify printing a sticker like that.

Can't believe dealers are still marking up cars to this day. Thought markups on the Stinger was typically in the first calendar year. Not sure which dealer you went to but I'd only ever accept a deal that has an initial discount of 8%+ (although that discount may only be available on '19s).

For any of my fellow Texans who did the balloon financing route to take advantage of lease cash: were you required to put a downpayment in order to secure it? Additionally, is it wise to mention that I want balloon financing for the lease cash up front when I give my OTD price? I am ready to purchase and plan on just sending my offer to various dealers within Texas (OTD price with the condition of lease cash thru balloon finance)

Also if anyone could shed light on which Texas dealerships offer the balloon financing route without any of the bs it would be much appreciated. (Preferably in the Austin/SA area)

No down payment is required.

I got it from Joe Meyers Kia Houston via the balloon finance(I'm from Austin though). Visited and contacted several dealers from Austin and SA but they just wouldn't come down on the price compared to Houston/Dallas dealers. I was quoted at least 3k more in Austin(after a lot of negotiation) than what I eventually got it for.

As far as mentioning about the balloon finance is concerned, I was upfront about my expectations and the price I was looking at. Got them to text me the OTD price then I drove to Houston to pick up the car.

Awesome that's what I like to hear, thank you for your input. Yea, seems like most dealerships in Austin will only be willing to part it at high-end KBB value. Kia of South Austin also tried to push a 3k protection package on me.

If you don't mind me asking - Is your Stinger the '19 or '20 model?

Edit: Also to add, I noticed that they tried to push a tax break onto you for a lease buyout. Did you stay firm with the balloon financing route? If I go the lease-buyout I may get a tax break but I would still run into issues refinancing with my CU.

Received my 2019 GT from Joe Myers Kia in Houston and I did not explore the SA/Austin market. I mass emailed all the dealers in Houston what I was willing to pay. Most of the dealers confirmed there was no ballon option so they were not able to get prices as competitive. Balloon option allowed me to capture all the rebates (good credit required).I was given the option to do a small down payment however, was not required. I did not actually need a car so there was no rush and was easy to walk away if I did not get my price. Good luck!
