What did you pay for your Kia Stinger?

Won't this theoretically always be true, though? I'd love to have the 360 cam, and wouldn't mind the heated back seats, but the more I thought about it I'd be waiting at least a year for those items anyway and at that point there will be new items in the new model that I'll be interested in and wonder about it all over again. This is one of the main reasons I like to lease.

You are correct, and it's something I've thought about. To be fair though, I think the changes made from year one to year two are often more significant than the successive years a lot of the time. I would actually like them to redo the dash design completely, but that probably won't happen until gen 2.

Not too much!
Edit: You'rebasically saving 20%. Do you feel like it's worth it? GT2, $40k out the door before tax? You wont get a new stinger for less

BTW, the OTD price I was quoted over the phone ended up being more like $42500 (without trying to haggle with the manager) due to me not qualifying for some of the incentives.

Got another OTD quote for a 2019 Stinger GT2
MSRP $52,635.00
Rebates -$2,000.00
Dealer Discount -$5,643.00
Price $44,992.00
Destination $990.00
Processing $699.00
Est State Taxes $3,349.24
Est State Tags $300.00
Out-The-Door $50,330.24

Do you all think this is a good deal? I'm trying to figure out if the destination fee is already included in the original MSRP and they're just doing a double-charge. Also, if this is not the correct thread to post this in, let me know. I just didn't want to create a new thread.

Yes destination is bs, also what is processing? They are charging you for the privilege of giving them money?

I walked into a dealership yesterday not expecting to finally make a purchase of a Stinger but I got a deal I couldn’t pass up on.

It’s a 2018 Stinger Premium in blue with AWD and the advanced driving package (both absolutely necessary for me).

All in thanks to incentives for using the leasing method was a few dollars over $34,000. The dealership overvalued my very old trade in which helped knock off an additional $2k for me and bring this well within my budget.

The final cherry on top was that they agreed to give me a free remote start that wasn’t included and also give me a $300 credit to buy a OEM wireless charger and then they’ll install it for free. I couldn’t say no.

The car had to be picked up from a dealership a few hours away so I don’t have it now but expect to sometime today. I can’t wait to snap my first few pictures of it.

And here she is! So pumped to have made this huge leap.

Sounds like Dealer Fee.
Isn't "Destination" the fee you see clearly labeled on Kia's Build & Price as "Destination"? It is not included in MSRP and it is listed as $995.

That would be my guess.
Spoke with another dealer and he said "Destination" should already be in the MSRP. So it looks like they may just be pocketing that. Upon second glance, the MSRP does seem high if you aren't already factoring in the destination.

Destination is $995, but is included on the window sticker in the total MSRP of the car (bottom right of the sticker, directly above the total MSRP). A super shady dealer could be trying to charge a "destination fee" hoping it isn't noticed and they pocket another $1000. Either way, the $699 processing fee is definitely making some extra money for the dealer.

So essentially you can say they're tacking on an extra ~$1,689 which leaves a "true" dealer discount of $3,954.

Yeah, the MSRP they quoted me didn't change, so that extra destination fee was just an additional tacked on fee so they could pocket the extra $995 and inflate the "discount". I asked the online dealer rep about the fee, asking if it was just a double-charge, and he said that since it was quoted so below sticker, they itemize the destination fee.

If that were the case, the MSRP that they quoted would have been $995 less than the original MSRP I saw online.

Either way, it's the best offer I've gotten so far. But I think if I am going to get a Stinger, I'll look into a lease/buyout, as I've already been approved by USAA for a loan for that option. I just don't know anything about negotiating leases.

Nothing different than negotiating a sale. Just focus on the selling price first and foremost (without any incentives). When you reach an agreement on that, tell them you want to lease it.

If your intention is to do a lease buyout, be sure you are familiar with the Tax Code in your state. For example, in Texas, the Lessee is charged taxes on the purchase price of the car at lease inception. Upon lease buyout, the buyer is again charged tax on the buyout amount since it is considered a separate transaction. You don't want to pay taxes twice!

Thanks for the heads up. I'm in TN, and it looks like I'm in a state that gets taxed only on the monthly payment while a lease is active.

So I'm assuming that withholding the intention to lease is important in getting the lowest possible price? Will the dealer want to renege on the agreed upon price once I reveal that I want to lease? Could I go to the dealer that provided me with the aforementioned quote and tell them that I would like to purchase the vehicle, forego any dealer incentives that would no longer apply (like the cash back for financing through KIA) and take the lease incentive instead? Would they try to say that the dealer discount no longer applies if I lease?

I wouldn't say important, but it just makes it easier for you to know where you are. Since you are planning to buy it out it is a bit different, but typically you'd have all of the leasing numbers ahead of time and know what selling price will work for you to get to the payment you want to be at. In your case it just helps since you won't have to worry about them giving you a price which includes any finance incentives. There isn't any reason they should give you less of a discount if you're leasing (unless of course that quoted discount included any incentives that aren't available for lease). Heck, they may even be willing to give you a bigger discount and jack up the MF (interest rate) to make it up. If you buy it out quickly this shouldn't really affect you since, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, the buyout doesn't include that MF.

Thanks for the response. That helps out a lot.
