Spent a couple of hours working on little things for the 2019 Stinger GT2 AWD - CF steering wheel trim, LED reverse lights, replaced the cabin air filter. I was going to replace the engine air filters but the filters were extremely clean so I will just save the new ones for down the road. I bought the car a month ago with 8,400 miles on it and, it appears, a lot of things were replaced (brand new tires even though the OEMs wouldn't have been worn out and were still new enough that didn't really need to be replaced due to age) so it is possible the filters are new.
I noticed one thing - a cutout in the carpet just below the front edge of the front passenger seat. It appears something is supposed to be in that spot - anyone know what it is that I am missing?
Also including a pic of the new steering wheel trim - I much prefer the CF to the piano black.

I am extremely hesitant to replace the bolts with a higher grade because then it will just break the diff mounting point...
Maybe the diff brace caused it, maybe if I kept the diff brace it may not have happened...

And it's one thing to have a bolt head sheer off, but to have an entire mount snap like that boggles my mind.

The Explorer ST (the TT 3.0 with 400hp) came with either "1 bolt" or "2 bolt" diffs, and it seems the former tend to break bolts if they aren't upgraded, but a diff brace keeps it from flexing enough to break the stock bolt. My guess is during the COVID supply chain shortages they figured the weaker diff from the 2.3 models would be fine (and it probably is until you start launching or tuning).

I'm betting what happened here is there was enough flex/play to bend and then break the Stinger's diff bolt, at which point the diff started moving a lot more, and that mount took the force until it broke too. So like with the Explorers, if the diff brace prevents the initial movement, it shouldn't break the bolt or cascade to the next mount.
