Installed BMS intake this afternoon

I have the KDM version of the center console I think it is aluminum and sells for about $250 or something. Easy to switch it out and bonus, it does have a cup holder door on it. There are videos on you tube to help with the switch I believe. The center console looks so much better with a cover on the cup holders...

I do prefer the version with the lid for the cup holder but that doesn't really mitigate how easily the aluminum scratches and dents. I might take Merlin's advice and put a strip of PPF along the edge.

That is @RedCal 's advice. Sounds good to me. (I must be really careful, because my console aluminum cover still looks very good.)

Is there a replacement for the silver plastic console cover available? I have to say, I've only had the car a couple of months and it already has nicks and scratches. Plastic is simply too soft. It looks nice enough but its far too high traffic an area. Gloss black is bad for that too.

I've seen pics like this but no idea where to get them. I assume this is a decal.

I did find this on EBay though which is an overlay and includes side door panel covers as well

It looks like its only made for Korean model with the cup holder cover though

I tried to be diligent when I was removing the entire dash and center console but it's extremely hard to do and not end up with a few nicks here and there.

Out of curiosity, what is the cost of the Kia OEM windshield? I've literally had to replace a windshield eventually on almost every car I've owned, lots of highway driving and those pesky high speed rocks. When I see dump trucks on the highway, I literally stay back a km at least.

I wonder how many windshields are damaged annually by dump trucks on highways.

Here in Cali: $350 non oem non hud. $800 non oem with hud. $1200 oem with hud. Ask me how I know lol

Not today but a couple of days ago I fitted these funny little door protection things. You can see them in this picture but outside in the sun you can't really see them at all.

Not sure where the nicks are from. Mind you I bought the car used and it was a company vehicle. The set of really nice black winter rims that came with it, every single rim had been curbed badly, two of them in several spots.

The saving grace is that the car had almost no mileage on it (around 1200km when I got it a couple of months ago).

I don't know if I have added any nicks or scratches or if they were just present. I recently had lasik done for my distance vision which means my close vision is now permanently shit. I happened to have a pair of reading glasses in the car when I was cleaning it and saw them.

Someone here pointed it out a while ago - The nicks seem to come from the seat belt buckle - hard steel vs soft aluminum doesn't take much to put a little dent in the trim, they add up over time. Ever since then I have tired to be a bit more careful, but wrapped it in PPF as a bit of insurance

I had a closer look at the dings, you are right they are from when someone (other than me) was buckling the seatbelt, all in the same basic spot.

I ordered a set of vinyl tint for the white part of the tail lights. Not sure how it will look but fingers crossed.

Today I washed it for the first time, and since it will be in the garage for a few days until the hurricane passes, I've started buffing it out to prep it for ceramic coating tomorrow. I'm also installing the cold air intakes tonight.

Yes.
I ceramic coated our Subaru Forester Limited (we traded it in last year for a Forester Sport), and my Saab 9-3. On the Saab the paint was heavily oxidized, but after about 20-30 hours with the buffer and a bottle of Griots I had a nice deep shine and ceramic coated it. I've washed it only three times since (it's been over two years now) and when I wash it, the water beads off as though it were freshly-waxed, and it's nice and glossy. That's not to say it looks new, because it doesn't thanks to all the paint chips, but it's glossy AF.

I paid to have mine polished, but did the coating myself, just make sure they know that you are going to ceramic coat it, that way they won't wax, it or use a polish it with a lot of fillers, or slicone content, after that easy

Edit... if your paint is good/very good, you can skip the polishing, you just won't have as much gloss
