What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

It's Oz. Is that a real picture?

(Note: this is my post that matches the year, the one and only 2018; which will last for I estimate less than five minutes. I am a posting fool. That's how hobbies are. :D)
Ah no, they are amercan cars if you look closely :p lol

Oh yea verily yea. Since I was going on 52. I don't spend ALL my time online, just a hefty proportion of it. That's how it is when you are set and this is as good as it gets: i.e. still in your "go-go stage", no bills, no crap to deal with beyond the daily trivial stuff, etc. Boredom is a sign that everything is "as good as it gets" in this "the best of all possible worlds", etc. The car is yooge amounts of fun. And talking with people who know what it is (whether contemplating or already driving) is also fun. :D

I got out of the Marine Corps on August 30th and started working my new job on Sept 10th. From mid June to August 30th I used up the nearly 10 weeks of vacation I had accumulated. During that time I basically LIVED on this forum. I probably made over 1k posts during that time. When my kids were at school I was so bored at home I would find myself just hitting the "refresh" button waiting on a new post.

I'm glad I have something to do during the day again. I had become thoroughly addicted to Stinger discussions.

Some people would call us obsessive but they are usually the ones without hobbies. I too love the forum i am on it constantly all hours.

Took the Stinger on a 120 mile round trip cruise from the OC to Temecula to pi k up supplies for Daughters business. Put CC on 77mph for most of the highway trip and got 33.7 MPG with AC on. Have less than 4,000 miles and the MPG is getting better all the time. LOVE IT!

You say that like it's a bad thing. lol. It's something to do. It isn't a waste of time. But it might pale compared to driving the car. That's a joke. Of course "I'd rather be driving". But also I am practical and I don't just go out and tool around for the heck of it. I could. But I just don't. Maybe I will. Hah.

I noticed. Whenever I am here, pretty much you are here. But, hey, it is your "job" after all. ;)

You know, it would be helpful to us if you put the kind of Stinger you have in your signature. That way I would not have to ask, Your Stinger is a 2.0T, right? (Because if it isn't, that is the most miles per gallon I've ever heard of for a 3.3TT.)

(edit) SMH: your handle says it all. Never MIND! :P

Nope. I'm not seeing it. Cars is cars. I'm not a car guy. And besides, you don't have Yank cars in Oz? If not, why not?
Oh we have them but they are massively over priced. The Chevy Silverado just released here, the base model 2500 WT is $114,990 not including on road costs, the Dodge RAM $139,500. Top line Silverado 3500 LTZ is $147,990 and Camaro starts at $90,000. Main reason is Chevy & Dodge won’t make RHD versions so they have to be converted from LHD to RHD before they can be sold here, plus taxes and everything else sadly just makes American cars not value for money in Australia

Steering wheel is on the wrong (right) side...lol

Totally agree, but it’s funny that Asian & European car manufactures can make affordable right hand drive vehicles, American manufacturers just don’t seem interested in our small market, but if they made an effort & priced them right some US models would be best sellers IMO (Ford had a go with RH Mustang, now there eveywhere) eg. Dodge Challenger, Camero, Corvette could take a leaf out of Fords book.

Agree, the Chrysler 300 SRT comes as a RHD and I’m seeing more on the street now, and that’s not including the ones NSW Police are using. It’s not just us that are RHD, there’s the UK and several European countries as well as Asia. The Colorado is branded as a Chevy in Thailand, and it’s built there. Makes me wonder why they don’t build other models over there in RHD and ship to Australia. When our government claimed they were removing some barriers and Holden & Ford stoped manufacturing here I think everyone thought finally we’ll see some premium US models but it hasn’t happened. I thought about holding off and replacing my Commodore with a Camero, but after seeing the price and watching Holden circle the drain I went for the Stinger. Don’t regret it for one second but if Chevy was more competitively priced I’m not sure what I would’ve done.

Again I agree with your comments, I would have thought we would have got the Cadillac range here, premium grade with performance is what Aussies want, big sedans with high capacity engines do not sell in most other RHD countries, Australia is a large country with huge distances & like the US but in a much smaller scale the car is king & we are muscle/performance oriented.
Silverado, Ram & F series trucks are what should be sold here, they meet Aussie needs better than the smaller units on sale here, US automakers don’t consider OZ a big enough market to make the business case to manufacture these in RHD, but I always found it funny that in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s when we had a smaller population then you could buy 351cui, 302cui F100 & F150 Pick-ups & Bronco’s.

Why don't "they" simply let opposite hand drive imported cars run? It's not like it's a safety problem. It is a convenience to sit closer to the center line. But driving down the outside is a cinch when the steering wheel is over there.

Is it time to promote Australia as a market again with another revival Redex Trial?

But really, given current politics and the direction trade policies are going in the U.S. and the flak auto manufacturers take for building "our" cars outside our borders, things promise only to get worse before they can get better. I know we don't talk politics on this forum, but this is a thread in which it's unfortunately relevant. Am I wrong?

You are of course right, except when driving, then we are left. ;)

Politics and economics mix when one party perceives that they are getting an unfair deal. That would be the US if we follow the POTUS's reasoning. If he has his way, the postal costs to Oz should be tempered as an outcome. It's all about spreading the money around, and getting more money flowing. But nobody wants to give over a portion of their slice of pie. Kicking, swearing and screaming: it's the only way.

Wash your mouth out! Lol
Never compare Australians to kiwis.
Its a cricket and rugby issue.
The Kiwi is a puny flightless bird. The Aussie is a boxing kangaroo. :P (steps out and closes the door behind himself)
