What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

I can't wait for summer.
What do you do for most of the year, then? You live in the great white north.

A slight disagreement with your words about the engine not liking the cold. No engine likes the cold until it is warmed up. The Stinger is built for cold climes. You did the right thing babying it up to operating temperature. After that the Stinger is in its element no matter if it's cold. The whole car is excellent winter transportation. The only thing to watch out for is deep snow, which is why I love this winter so far. The most "accumulation", if you can call it that, is one to two inches - gone within a few hours. This is not exactly typical of winters around Utah. The snow is in the mountains. The valleys are like weather in Camelot, so far. That can change in an instant of course.

What did I do to my Stinger today? I DROVE IT. Yay.
We have had no snow for about 4 days, and all the streets are clear and dry. No salt on the roads.
It's been in the garage for a couple of weeks now, not having been started or moved.
It was still cold though. Minus 6c.
I took it easy at first. I've noticed that this car, especially the engine, does not like cold weather.
I drove around slowly in the neighbourhood, getting the oil up to operating temp.
Then had some fun after that. I got a few looks, as the car is pristine clean, while every other vehicle is covered in white dried salt.
I looked like a unicorn.
Anyway, it's back in the garage for a while now. I'll keep an eye on road conditions and hopefully do it again soon.
I can't wait for summer.
I daily drive my Stinger. Have done that it's whole life as I bought it brand new. It does just fine in the cold. Or at least as fine as any other car I've owned. It's seen at least -23 actual air temp, that was back in 2021. I live in MN, which the winter is half the year basically. Not sure how it is compared to Canada, probably similar with just less snow........ sometimes.

Pretty sure I've posted this on here before but this was April 1st a couple years ago. It does great in the snow and I also run 18" Blizzaks on it. That day was tough because with that much snow ground clearance is basically gone and all the snow wanted to stuff itself in the bottom grill where the intercooler sits, which can be a problem.

I drive my 2016 Lexus RX350 as my DD and winter beater.
I was enthralled with the Stinger from the first time I laid eyes on it in 2018.
It wasn't until 2023 where I was in a position to buy one.
The fact that they announced the end of production at that time motivated me to grab one before they disappeared.
The car is really a gift to myself in my senior years. It's a garage queen and toy.
The reactions this car gets can probably start a whole new thread.
I was in a corner store the other day buying lottery tickets, and a guy walked up behind me in line and asked me if the Kia was mine. I said yes, and he started fawning over the car and asking tons of questions. We both walked outside after we were done in the store and he walked around the car before heading off. Then gave a thumbs up. This wasn't the first time I've had this happen.
My kids aren't into cars like I am, so when I kick the bucket, they'll just sell it.

Oh Mary, I had a fine time keeping my temper. My lovely wife, an excellent driver, did a dumb thing yesterday evening and rashed the RR rim all the way around on a righthand curb that she tried to get close to. She succeeded obviously. I said to never try to get close on the right side of this car. Always pull up to corners to the left side of the right turn lane. And related to that, never pull around a righthand end stall that has an island/curb, because you are going to try and make as much room between your car and the next parking stall as feasible - and that means guaranteed curb rash sooner or later.

Today, I spent a grueling two hours getting the scratches and deep dings out. You can see the tools, a flat bastard file and two heavy sandpaper grits - the lighter one being 220 - followed up with 2000 grit wet sandpaper. I figure I worked for $153/hour, because right now on eBay you can get a "remanufactured" wheel for $306. I may still buy it. The damaged rim looks a darn sight better than the rash of course. But I had to remove quite a bit of metal on the deep pits and of course that changes the planes of the affected surfaces. I'll decide in the next couple of days if I can live with it.

If you decide you wanna go with a more OEM look, get these instead. Genesis G70 wheels. They are 18" like your premium wheels but they look much better. Should be cheaper than your premium wheels too, at least they were when I bought them years ago. They do come in a lighter silver color too but I like the dark grey better.

Thanks for the recommendation. Nice looking wheel. I actually have a backup set in the shed - the GT OEM wheels powder coated in gloss black - should I ever decide to actually stop using the Premium OEM wheels. I had them on briefly in the winter of '23. I think they look great with the Micro Blue. But Ima not a fan of the calipers and smaller rotors exposed like that, compared to the Premium wheels, so, it's kind of a tradeoff having a better looking wheel but kind of drawing attention to the utilitarian calipers and smaller rotors. I have considered painting the alloy rotors a contrasting blue or black.

Oh, that's right, I forgot that the premium model doesn't get gt brakes. I've said it before that I'm definitely a fan of the stock wheels in black, looks much better. The rotors won't look that bad, it'll just be like every other normal car that has open style wheels and small rotors I guess.

Had to get my permit back up to date. Should keep me outta trouble. Lol!

whoa hang on, whats this? I need me one of them!
If you leave a few things in life that you have to remember, it helps massage the little grey cells, which is good for increasing mental capacity. Turning ISG OFF is the first thing I do after starting, 99% of the time anyway, the 1% is when I get distracted by "something" or someone that knocks me out of my routine.

My mind rests comfortably at 100% knowing I don't have to press that little button :)

Not mine but the baby stinger, my wife's Cerato GT

Throttle response has felt a bit sluggish with the odd shake at idle even tho' economy was normal, so i pulled the plugs which are only 18000km's old regapped NGK iridiums and yep they appeared ok.

Oh well lets bolt on some MSD red top coils, after all it has done 78000 very careful km's.

Instant difference, i don't believe in snake oil mods unless i run/try them for myself and from the get go these things were packaged perfectly, they had dielectric grease pre installed and the best part...

THEY CAME WITH STICKERZZZ !!!

Now we just need them for the Stinger because my hard earned $$$ will definitely be buying a set.

Top Product A+

Peace
