What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Ordered NEW tyres

My Michelins were $720 EACH including fitting and balancing at a local tyre shop, so i bought 2 of a different brand for less than $300

Will order a pair of 245/40x19" for the front as well once these arrive.

Am I reading that right? You could burn through two pair of them at that price and still be ahead. Ima having a hard time wrapping my head around a $720 Michelin tire.

I know right?

Welcome to Australia and our 'Get Stuffed Tax' i nearly bought these CUP 2's after getting the price shock of the 4S at Bob Jane T-marts...

Gotta be a good bit lighter weight, if it only needs one strut to open/hold. That's a good mod in my book. If only I could convince myself to swing that kinda cash.

Price is definitely less than most. Fitment was on point with mine. Had it for a couples
years now. I grabbed the struts too

Does the gelcoat on the CF show any sign of yellowing. That is one of my biggest reservations about these. The sun can be brutal in your neck of the woods and mine.

Also, doe the low pressure struts hold up the CF hood? Their description does not seem to be certain about this.

WOW i ordered the wrong size tyres haha, awesome shop but.

I ordered the front ones just now and they will credit me for my NEW correct size rear ones...

Decided to go out on a limb and picked up this carbon fiber layover 3-piece kit from Aliexpress. Shipping was pretty fast and my package arrived 5 days earlier than they estimated. These are "hard" carbon fiber pieces and the fit and finish on them is quite nice considering the price. Install was super simple and I am very pleased with how they look. They are glossier than the factory carbon that comes with the Scorpion package, but that was to be expected since that "carbon fiber" doesn't really have a gel coat on it. I also picked up a flexible overlay sticker for around the screen to cover up the piano black trim and that fit well too (you can see it in the background of the picture). I put the link to the steering wheel kit below for those that are interested. I also picked up a carbon fiber vinyl sticker for the Kia logo to complete the look, nice and subtle.

have the same hood and have no issues, though it does live in the garage. SB website says that if the finish starts to dull it has a coating that can be buffed back to shine. Not sure if that's normal or not. Picked mine up used and it looks as good as new.

I also have the low pressures strut, they hold the hood up with no issues. I do think I am going to break it when i close it because it is so much lighter.

been on the fence with hood pins though. I am reluctant to drill the holes in a nice hood and it has held at well over 100......until it doesn't.

I got my hood in May of 2021 and it just started ( 3 months ago or so) to "white" streak in rolls of the hood. I was able to cut the resin and polish it out. Of course with no action taken after other than wax and a home ceramic coat it started to show again. Most dont notice but it drives me nuts. So im gonna go back at it here this month before Slamfest in October.
The best protection would be to have a shop clear coat it before you put it on. Should've/could've but i didn't. I have no regrets on my purchase though. I also dont have hood pins in it. Not a super fan of the look. They dont loom bad but my car aint fast enough. Hahahaha!

As for the struts, yes they hold the hood up with out issue. I have a cf prop for shows but when working on it no concern with the hood falling on me with just the struts

Can't do it today as she is in the Panel Shop getting the accident damage repaired...

But on Friday i will put this on.

I owned the K&N Typhoon Kit and you would not think two similar looking kits could be so different in their execution, these filters are MASSIVE and they are DRY and of course this one claims to make way more HP and TQ haha...

I eventually wrapped the alloy Typhoon pipes in header wrap to lower the heat soak, i doubt i will have that issue with these AEM plastic ones?

I also have the AEM kit. Not that big a fan of it honestly. I don't like how there's not at least a cover over the top of the boxes. Having to add the rubber pieces on the edges is lame imo. I like the sound the intakes make but that's about it. I'd prefer something akin to what I had back in my GM car days.

I guess they make a more sealed kit now, the one from Takeda but $500 for an intake is steep.

Finally got around to installing my Velossa Tech air intake snorkels today.
I've been a bit hesitant due to the requirement of removing the front bumper, but got up the courage to do it today.
My fears were not justified. I took my time and followed a youtube video to remove it, and it came off without a hitch.
There are 17 clips and four 10mm screws. That's it.
I did not unplug the front sensor harness. I just put a blanket on the driveway and put the bumper down gently.
The snorkels went in as instructed. I had to cut out a piece of the plastic air guide that there (hard to explain).
Not everybody puts it back apparently. I decided to trim it to make room for the snorkels, and put it back.
Reinstalling the bumper was a bit tricky doing it by myself, but I managed.
The snorkels are not as visible as I hoped, but that's ok. You can see them if the sun hits it the right way.
Pics attached (I hope).

Gave everything a tub up top and underneath not long ago and i just ordered an intercooler yesterday finally (stupid aussie dollar comparison rate) so now we wait and see if i need to cut off the extra metal on my crash beam or not *sigh* ?

Aussie problems :ninja:

Where exactly is that? I'm having trouble seeing where that would be under the hood. I've looked in my car for them and can't find them.
Can you post a pic that's taken a little further back, to give a better perspective of where it is? Thx.

I think you custom order which colors you want. I got all black.

That last pic is the radiator drain plug, hot side boost hose is next to it.

It looks like they are part of the fan shroud assembly. If they are electrically actuated, I can't help but wonder if they open when the car is moving fast enough to provide a "flow-through" path for air through the intercooler and radiator to facilitate cooling at speed.

Next oil change I'll try to remember to get my wife to shoot a leaf blower through the radiator and see if wind opens them.
