What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Good. At least the Blue matches our Premium. I have one of each of the four colors Hot Wheels did.

I've always been curious about what the numbers on the packaging mean. Starting with the 118/250, then the 4/5, and the 3 in the lower left corner. You wouldn't happen to know?

Ordered carbon fiber side vents and they arrived today.
Fortunately, global warming is alive and well up here (+6C today), so I got the Stinger out of the garage and swapped them out.
Turned out to be very easy. I got some trim removal tools through Amazon, which helped.
I like the look.PXL_20240209_205129118.webp

I don't know except for the 3+; that's the recommended age.

The rest might be collectors information.

But I had to get the matching red ones I found out got weekend names Stingers.

Finally got round to fitting the painted side reflectors that have been sitting in the garage for the last 9 months. I picked them up as soon as I got the car but the standard reflectors had grown on me so was 50/50 on fitting them. Gald I did now and happy with the results. Not hard to fit and much easier with these stubby drivers...

I'm always looking for cosmetic mods and saw these on-line. Looking at your pics, I'm not sure if I like them or not.
My car is white as well, and the mod looks a little strange re: it's all one piece, with no break between the bumper and fender.
Maybe it should be two pieces. The vertical gap between the bumper and fender should be one continuous line, in my eyes.
Jury still out for now.

What if you draw it on?

That might work. Always thinking eh.

This past weekend gave her the 12k oil change.

Just sanded a badly nerfed RR wheel that my wife caused, turning more than a tad too closely to get around the corner and into traffic swiftly. She offered to take a "driving lesson". I said, just don't be in that big a hurry to get around a corner in front of approaching traffic, wait, and wagon wheel turn in to give yourself guaranteed enough room. I've nerfed my wheels a few times over the years, but never the RR one, for those reasons.

Uncommonly mild weather continuing here in the great white north (Ottawa, Ontario).
Plus 4C today and sunny. Another opportunity to drive the Stinger. Even gave the wheels a bath in the driveway.
I honestly thought back in December that I'd probably only drive the Stinger once or twice this winter.
It's been an awesome and pleasant surprise so far. Gotta love global warming.

I replaced my air filters and cabin air filter, with a little help from the resident mechanic.View attachment 81865
Where did you buy the filters from? Could you help me with the part number? Thank you

So today I installed my custom intercooler kit.

It's taken a while to get everything ready but it was well worth it.
I've been looking for the lightest and most efficient ( $'s and function ) intercooler I could get to suit.
I knocked up a pair of mounting brackets and used two titanium lockwire bolts on the cooler mounts to avoid corrosion.

The intercooler I installed is only 0.5KG ( 1.1 pounds ) heavier than the OEM unit and sits right up in the air flow so it should be better for cooling.
Total weight increase to car is under 1KG ( ~ 2 pounds ).

( Sorry for the crap pics quality. I suck at taking pics. )

BEFORE: ( with a my custom upper intercooler lip to pull more air in on the OEM unit )

Anyway, I know it's not some top shelf name brand kit but it's very light, it fits great, it works really well and the total spend was around $800AUD ( under $500USD ).

Got a name for the kit please?

Nice fit, very clean & tidy…good job

Sorry, there's no actual name for the kit.

The intercooler is a HDI GT2 and the rest I either made or had help making.
Here's the blurb from the intercooler site.

HDI GT2.webp

I used S/S rivnuts into the back of the bumper to bolt the mounting bracket to.

I got some off the shelf 90 degree bends which I measured and had cut and MIG welded to make the alloy bends and clamps.

Thank you.

I really wanted to keep weight ( and $'s ) to a minimum.
Was going to get a PWR intercooler but that would have been over $1K for the cooler alone and I'm not sure how much better it would be than what I got.

All going well it should handle whatever I throw at it. Will pull the nose off in about 6 months and see how everything's going.

Installed my BMS fmic last night. Yes i have a 2.0 and its made for the 3.3. Got everything hooked up and running good. Needed to do some "adjustments" to get everything hooked up but its mounted and solid.

Great intercooler. I tried installing one on mine but it wouldn't fit without DRASTIC mods ( to Aus delivered Stingers which have a different bumper ) so I bailed. :(

Should be almost overkill on a 2.0 :p but now your inlet temps are sure to stay low no matter what you do :whistle:
