What car is the Stinger replacing?

I'll be getting rid of a 2012 Optima SX and a 1998 Corvette. It's got all the space of the Optima with a much easier to access trunk, and the same 0-60 speed as the Corvette, although I don't expect it'll handle as well given the weight, but it seems like a good amalgam of the two.

View attachment 328 I doubt the Stinger will be the first car for most folks, so I'm curious to know what cars people are driving that are interested in the Stinger.

Right now I have a Kia Cadenza, but my true love was the 2008 Pontiac G8 GT that preceded it. But as luck would have it (or planned obsolescence), the car started to breakdown after the warranty was over. After the car wouldn't start for my pregnant wife when she was in a shopping mall, it was time to move on. The Cadenza has been an amazingly reliable car for my family, and we've had zero issues with it - but it feels like more of an appliance than a vehicle I can be passionate about. I'm hoping the Stinger can be the best of both, reliable and fun to drive.

Replacing a 2013 Optima SXL. Been waiting for a rumored AWD Optima, but not to be. Love the Stinger and the perceived value over the competitors. I like underdogs.....except your Jets. I'm a true Blue G-Man. We'll take you over here as the Jets might have another 50 year wait for a title.

Seriously, Stinger really looks like a real upgrade from the Optima and a game changer for the brand.

I'm replacing a 2014 Ford Fiesta sedan, Titanium trim. It's served me great for the past few years, and I'll miss the 40+MPG, but life changes dictate the need for something larger... Why not have something a little more "lively" as well?

if i get one it will "replace" my 2005 neon srt-4. i dont plan on getting rid of it but id like a new, better, more comfortable daily driver.

I know I said I'd sell my Corvette and Optima for the Stinger, and I know it'd be nice to retain my wife's 2014 Corolla so we have one car that gets great mileage, but she loves my Optima's heated seats and I love the dual-memory seat position, as opposed to rolling the seat back then cranking the lever 10 times to lower the seat. So it's possible we may just sell her Corolla and keep the Optima. In which case I'd definitely have to go for the red paint instead of blue or we'd probably just get them confused a lot.

Also should there be a running contest of who here is making the largest "step" from their current vehicle to a stinger? I think the Fiesta probably wins so far.

Sorry, Luddite here--I couldn't quote davebo so I'll do it oldschool: "Also should there be a running contest of who here is making the largest 'step' from their current vehicle to a stinger?"

Yes, there should be, since I WIN! My 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, which, despite it's head-up display, is undoubtedly a huge leap. Heck, I'm going to have to re-learn how to drive, given all the tech I've never dealt with before. Paddle shifters? Yikes! (And I'll really miss my CD player!)

Well I think you're in the lead for technology leap, but at least your Pontiac has (or at least had) 230 ft/lbs of torque. Poor jasheppard84 over there is working with 112. I'll also miss the cd player, but frankly I needed an excuse to convert my old cd's eventually anyway. My Corvette originally came with a tape player too for some odd reason. When I got it in 2003 the first thing I did was replace the head unit, which is hilarious outdated by today's standards. Hey, who's got two thumbs and still burns mp3 folders onto CD-Rs? This guy!

i dont think im the "winner" in that category but a close second or third. lol the only features my car has is power windows locks and mirrors plus a sunroof. oh yeah when i say power windows i mean only the front ones. the rears are manual roll ups.

Davebo, yes, mine still has great power--she's a kick to drive, at least for my tame tastes. But I always have to wait for parts to be found, and if it's purely cosmetic, forget it--no one makes or carries those parts any more. I won't rant about our throw-away society . . .

But (especially since there's no prize) I'm glad to pass the prize to someone with a later-model car with a small engine--but only if they also don't have an infotainment system and sufficient airbags, tee hee.

2006 Mazda3 sedan - the lesser of the Japanese econo-box snoozers of the mid-2000's. It'll be quite the upgrade for sure.

2014 Ford Escape Titanium trim. It's got everything but a sunroof. A little history about the car. It was my mother's. She passed last year and I bought it from her "estate" to hold on to a piece of her. It's just not ME. I had been driving a 2013 VW Jetta GLI Autobahn Edition with a stage I APR tune. My wife drives that now. Prior to the VW I had a 2007 BMW 335i Coupe. Soured to the BMW experience as I spoke about in another thread. The Stinger looks to be the best car for me right now for the best value. It's crazy how expensive cars have gotten over the last decade. I'll never forget seeing a Buick Regal at an auto show that had an MSRP of almost 45k. I was like 45k for WHAT?! This car is a much better value for that kind of cash.

2009 Hyundai Genesis V8. Now has 86k mi.

Would be wife's car, I prefer Coupes and converts. She wants RELIABILITY, good driving experience, comfortable, utility.

Wife buys new cars, drives them until wheels fall off. Well, not really, as soon as it becomes unreliable she buys a new one. She drives conservative and maintains car well, keeps car 8 - 10 yrs and they still look and drive like new.

Am expecting this car to be a bargain, esp compared to others with same comfort/size/utility/reliability.

2015 UK Market Ford Mustang GT. Right Hand Drive, H-Pipe, Mufflers that don't really do their job properly (in the best way possible), and the GT350 steering wheel.

I love the Mustang. I love that barn-door engineered American V8 but christ, 15 months old and I have had two recalls and a breakdown. The two recalls were to stop the engine from setting on fire (yes, really) and the breakdown was because the oil cooler decided it didn't want to live anymore and shot coolant all over the road.

Add Ford's incomprehensibly bad service and you have a frustrated customer. Again I love this car and all the problems are now fixed, but now I'm just paranoid and I do not like dealing with Ford in any way, shape, or form.

I've recently had a sudden job change (long story short, taking my old employer to court, fun fun fun :/ ) with a substantial pay rise, so a Stinger GT is even more on the cards than it was before. Though I'm now looking at a Jaguar F-Type with the Supercharged V6. I just can't decide if I want a saloon or a coupé.

06 altima v6. This was my car that I ever modded and it got me into modifying cars. I love this car but I'm ready for something that can give me some real power and speed. Smiles also. Oh and ac will be a welcome return

I have a 2015 mustang turbo that's leased and due back in October. For that reason, I reallllllly hope the Stinger GT makes it here before November. I'm 98.9 % sure the Stinger is what I want so if I have to rent a car for a few weeks, I guess I'll suck it up and do that.

Currently driving 2015 Peugeot 508. Looks great.

It's amazingly comfortable. Going on a 1000 km ride in a single day as hard as visiting local mall. It has nice music, cozy interior, lots of space, low fuel consumption (managed to get figures as low as 4.4l per 100km at highway) but it's boring as hell to drive.

Basically, I want the same level of comfort, options (like hud, 360 camera, comfort seats, good music) with the ability to do 0-100 under 7 seconds and sound like an a**hole with sporty exhaust.
