Yeah, but, it sells in lower numbers than something like the Q50, which seems to be much EASIER to tune (they've cracked the ECU for some time), has multiple Nissan tuners working with it, a couple of transmission builders, etc. They even recently added aftermarket support for adding an LSD (Limited Slip Differential) to the AWD setup (wish I could get that on my GT1 AWD!!). I was all set on Q50 until I found I couldn't sit in the sport seats for more than 5 minutes
The Q50 definitely has a much more established aftermarket than some of its competitors. I just turned in a leased 2016 Silver Sport RWD for my RWD Stinger GT2.
The crazy thing is that the 2020 Q50 is almost identical to the 2016 Q50 that I turned in. They added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and that was essentially all they have changed in 4 years. Pretty easy to develop aftermarket stuff for a car that doesn’t change.
The resell value of the 2019 Q50 cars is positively abysmal. An AWD Q50 SS stickers for $54,640 minimum. That is about the same as the equivalent Stinger GT2.
Right now the resell value on KBB of the 2019 AWD Stinger GT2 with 15k miles is $37,092 while the Q50 AWD SS is $30,179. Both cars have similar discounts for the 2019 models right now. $7,000 more depreciation in 15k miles is the reason why the Infiniti is such a bad option to buy brand new.
My old 2016 Q50 is for sale for $27,000 right now with about 47k miles. If you really want to mod a car to the extreme then picking up a used 2016 Q50 SS is probably your best option.
Just be aware that the Q50 trade in value is almost $7,000 less than that. If you can find someone who bought instead of leased a 2016 Q50 and wants to get out of it you might be able to get in one for about $21k if you buy it private party. That is a lot of car for that kind of money.
There is almost no need to get a Red Sport if you plan on modifying it because the only difference is the intercooler and you are probably going to change that out anyway.
The Stinger is light years better than the Q50 in every other aspect. There simply is no comparison between the two car’s performance in stock form. The Stinger just blows the doors off the Q50 SS when stock. I tried an AWD Red Sport with the accessory exhaust and honestly it didn’t even feel as fast as my RWD Stinger.
However, they can get some pretty amazing HP figures out of the Q50 with heavy modifications.
