3.3TT Wagner Tuning intercooler

Thanks for me it’s a no go. If there are no ducts I am not doing it. Plus there is no reason to believe this outperforms the AP intercooler for 2 times the price of any other intercooler.

Let me know once you install your thoughts.

Agree. For that price the JT seems to be a better deal as it does come with ducts and without the weight penalty.

I guess the same could be said for most IC options currently out there for the Stinger. Aside from the ducts part.

We have confirmed as of this afternoon, that:

These were prototypes that had been planned to make of Carbon Fiber, but the cost was too high to market that way.

They have confirmed that they may offer them in Carbon Fiber in the future.

However, the intercooler does include its own type of baffling shown in the picture of what's included with the intercooler.

David, with these now in stock, may you confirm the baffling shown is included? There seems to still be confusion about this.

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't see the air ducts -- do we know definitively that they are not included.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yes we finished the install and there was no such thing.

The JT FMIC comes with sheetmetal pieces that you can use to make ducts.
I threw them away and used the vellosa tech snorkels.

I guess I don't understand the fascination with the ducts. I get the theory behind it, but I haven't seen any dyno results to prove it actually matters. The size, weight, surface area, ease of installation, and cost of the IC matters more to me. $/cubic foot of air cooled would be my driver. Do you have to cut any part of the car in any way to make it fit? That would be an immediate show stopper for me.

It seems like they are not included, from what @xot1 mentioned in post #77

Yes, but David has them in stock, he can easily confirm whether this is a one-off issue or whether none of them will ship with the ducts. This was a discussion earlier in this thread and i'd like a bit of clarity from a vendor that has them.

There are no air ducts. It has been said before. I have confirmed before when I called Wagner Tunning. They include the intercooler baffles but as far as air ducts for the intakes are not included. Supposedly K8 states that later down the road they might make them out of carbon fiber. My guess they won’t develop them due to low sales and even if they did the price would be ridiculous.

These are in stock with Wagner, not at or physical storefront location. Plus the intercoolers are all sealed up in their packaging, I couldn't go and open it up just to check if we did have it. I already confirmed here in this thread that they DO NOT include the ducts being asked about.

Correct!

Cool, glad I didn’t order from K8 this weekend after all. I’ll pass.

Everyone seems to be obsessed about the air ducts. By looking at the shape of the V shaped ducts, one would naturally expect that air is guided and pushed into the intake inlet through the ducts but the truth is that the turbos suck air at a much faster speed than the incoming front wind speed. That's why there is no data backing up any performance advantage. IMHO they just look cool.

Wait what? I don't follow, what was the reason you didn't order and are glad you didn't? The little air ducts? lol

I agree 100%, and as I mentioned below, until someone has proven otherwise, this is simply a theory that these plastic ducts will make some type of difference in performance.

Do you have to cut any part of the car in any way to make it fit? That would be an immediate show stopper for me.
No, absolutely not. Fitment is dead on with ZERO modification needed to either the vehicle or the intercooler in order to install it.

Exactly, thank you for saying this. Everyone got so caught up on these because they have the Velossa Tech ones, and think that this intercooler needs that to function correctly. Wagner is German engineered and they do extensive testing on their products before they are released. If it made an impact with them vs without them, I'm sure they would have been included. Until someone has posted some type of data substantiating that it would make even the slightest difference, it's completely hearsay and it seems people speak from emotion and feeling, rather than from experience with data to backup their theories.

Did anybody get a chance to test fit with the velosa tech?
