2.0T Valve guides

So the blue smoke is starting to waft out the back in a classic leaking valve guide diagnosis. Meaning at start up and continues till the oil is burned away. Then when parked and the oil from the head seeps down through the valve guides and the process starts all over again.
So has this happened to anyone else yet??
I’ll be Calling service later today.
 
How many miles on the car? Oil weight used? Wouldn't expect this from any engine until way into its lifespan.

How much oil is your engine consuming? Something like 1/2 quart per 5000 miles? - curious

I noticed the sig indicated some mods and a tune. Wonder if this could be a contributing factor?
 
1) In order of replies
16989 miles / 0-20 Mobil 1. Ever since I
owned her at 5000 miles.
2) Hasn’t used any since it just started doing the unthinkable.
3) I have been using the dealer for the oil changes lately and each time I removed the tune. I don’t own this car for the next driver. So I do open her up at least once a week and each time at operating temperature. But as with anything. Something’s got to give if pushed hard enough, a wise transmission mechanic told me that a long time ago.

I push hard alot and i have 67k almost but no serious mods or tune. Also no issue. Could it be oil from a full catch can spilling into the intake area while parked?
Just a shot in the dark really

I’ll check that. But the dealer is leaning towards a wastegate/ turbo issue. I won’t know for sure until Friday next week when I bring it in.
 
Until then the tune goes bye bye. And the lead foot gets replaced with a feather toe

0W20 oil? Is that correct? Looking at owner's manual for a '21 MY 2.0 they recommend 0/5W-30 or 5w40.

Our '15 accord 2.4 NA called for 0w20. Always weary of pouring that in. Nearly had the consistency of water. Wondered how much protection it was actually providing.
 
Harsh summers and winters suggest the lighter oil.
Anyways I removed the catch can and tune. The can had next to nothing in it. I needed to upgrade the tubing anyway so omitting it for now isn’t a game changer. My service appointment is Wednesday next week.
 
Look on the bright side, at least your engine cover has a hole for the oil cap. On the 2.5, the cover is solid. Has to come off entirely to add oil.

0W-30 != 0W-20 :alien:

^^0w-20, 0w/20, etc is the same. The point I was trying to make is 0w20 (any variation) is not the same as 0w-30 (or 0w30 or 0-30).

So how did you come up with this and decide to overrule the manufacturer who created created the engine, and therefore knows what its requirements are for all weather conditions?

The oil cap specifically states 'See Owner's Manual' and 0W-30. Nowhere does it state to run a 20W oil - the minimum hot viscosity is a 30W.

A possibility is that your rings may be worn where on engine shut-down, there isn't combustion to seat the rings against the cylinders. Therefore, when the piston travels down the bore, oil is drawn into the cylinder versus being scraped off, and subsequently burned off on the next engine startup.
