Uvo display restarting itself

Confirmed, its just 94.5 for me. Messed around with it a bit more and espn never triggered it and neither did the others that I saw scanning through.

So definitely something in the hd radio or extra data sent in Houston as in Atlanta, 94.5 comes in fine. No issues on ether normal/HD changing to adjacent stations and back.

Well, happy to report that it is in fact the radio station (94.5). I changed it yesterday after work on my way home and no problems. Also this morning on my way to work tried different stations, except for 94.5 and they all worked great, as did my BT and satellite radio. So definitely it is an issue with 94.5 and the data they transmitting over their RDS.

This morning, 94.5 was NOT transmitting HD, and there were no issues on my commute.

Good to know. They probably got notice of the issue and stopped transmitting in HD to solve the problem.

Interesting. I wonder if its specifically reacting to Kia's headunits or if it is doing the same to other brands as well from their HD stream.

Just wanted to post as a guest but my Genesis G70 (same as a Stinger really) has the same issue. I AM in Houston. I DO listen to 94.5 and DO have the HD on.

I'll experiment at home since I am on the bike today.

I had posted this on the Genesis site but cannot share the link as I'm too new.

Thanks for the lead!

Edit: For anyone further down the rat hole....dealer able to do anything? Anyone tell Rodd or the Radio Wizard? Haha

lol!....welcome aboard.

Dealer is likely not of much help here as it is an issue with the data transmitted by the radio station.

Those who have made service appointments should do their best to ensure that the dealership escalates to Kia. Ideally, they'd do a root cause analysis and include a fix in a software update (if a fix can be made there).

Checked mine this morning....no Buzz HD signal and no boot loop. Listened to 88.7's HD and no loop. I guess that was it

I am going to cancel my appt because they will just say they cannot replicate and it'll be a waste of my time. I was willing to still go even if I knew the cause and could reproduce. C'est la vie

same here. Listened to 94.5 with no HD (they are no longer transmitting HD) with no problems. I was able to tune in to other stations transmitting in HD and no problems.

Just experienced the constant resetting here. Brand new 2019 GT1 with 700 miles on it. I'm in Tucson, AZ and was listening to 94.9 with HD On. I'll try switching it off to see if it fixes it next time I'm in the car.

Drove the car today and experienced the issue once on station 94.9 HD again here in Tucson, AZ. Was able to use the steering wheel buttons to change the station during one of the restarts and get it to a different station. During my 30 min commute I kept switching stations periodically back and forth to 94.9 and couldn't get it to repeat the restart cycle. I'd keep it on 94.9 for 5 minutes with no issue, whereas when it first happened it occurred within 2 minutes of being on that station. No issues on any other station or input so far.

For reference here are my Software versions:
SW Ver.: CK19.USA.SOP.V099.180806.STD_H
Firmware Ver.: CK19.USA.286.180612.MICOM.D
Nav App Ver.: DAP.NAM.KMC.180725.f0e3f7ca
Map Ver: NAM.11.47.44.465.105.2

Outside temp (in case the temp is a factor) on the first occurrence was 108 F and happened after car was outside for 2+ hrs, on second occurrence it was only 85 F in the morning and was outside for only 15 minutes.

Edit 1 - Found more detailed information. Wondering if it applies to our problem:

Happened again today on 94.9 in HD. Listened to it all the way to work with no issues. As soon as I powered up the car to leave work at the end of the day today it started resetting. Swapped the station and all was good. I even went back to 94.9 later in the drive with no issues. It’s so weird...

Posted a video on Youtube to show it happening.

Yep. That is the same problem we were having. It was the radio stations RDS feed over the HD frequency.

As soon as you tune to a different station it will stop doing it.

Isn't the real problem the Stinger radio software inability to handle the RDS feed properly? Did we narrow down specifically what in the RDS feed causes it?

Anyway, it happened again yesterday, this time I was on 94.9-2 HD subchannel (all other times I was on the main 94.9-1).

Well in our case, the radio station frequency in which the issue was present, took down the HD signal and that solved the problem. A couple of days later the HD frequency was back and the issue was gone. So they must have had something changed in the way they transmitted the signal. What ever it was it was not being processed correctly by the radio.

If you can give the radio station a call and describe the issue, they probably have had other listeners with the same problem.
