Used Stinger GT Market Info

In the US on cars.com alone we have 250, probably another 100-200 cars not listed on there as well.
This all makes sense when you take in the simple population comparison. US is approximately 10x Canada.

I've just started looking at the market for a GT1 (RWD or AWD), and have been going back and forth between used and new. Would it make more sense to seriously look near the end of the model year (July/August), or is the discounts at that point not going to be much? Not to mention, very little inventory locally by that point?

The closest used GT1 at a range I like (around $32k) is a 5-hour drive or farther away, while new models' prices nearby show them over $40k, with only one at $37,964.

Edit: looking at that $37k Stinger, it's a 2019 with nearly 5k miles, but being sold as new. *scratches head* I'm liking the color on it though (Panthera Metal), don't see those in the wild around here.

I have Panthera Metal and it looks beautiful in person, when I first saw it I immediately thought it looked like the Porsche Panamera dark grey I always see. As for the dealer selling the car as "New" with 5k on it, that means it's never been registered which is why it would have the "New" designation, so basically it's a demo or one of the higher ups at the dealer used it.

^^^I figured it as such. I wonder if I can talk them down a little because of that mileage. As for the color, good that you really like it! I hadn't even considered that color (looking at red, black, white) until now. :)

Honestly if I were buying right now it would be new or at the very least certified for a GT1. New with discounts are still too close to used retail right now. I don't think GT1 used price difference is going to be low enough until lease turn ins hit the market in about another 6 plus months for the 18s

Hmmm, not sure if I have the patience to wait another 6 or so months, but I guess it'll depend what's out there. That '19 with 5k miles I may check out later this week. On a whim, I did do the Costco Auto Program today, which worked great for me when I got my wife's Sorento months ago. Perhaps lightning might strike twice?

Edit: I saw on your sig that you're a prospective buyer as well. I have an Optima SX (with Niche wheels) myself. :)

Hi Jacques, another current SX and future Stinger owner from PO.com here :)

I'd expect the lease incentives to be at most $1k higher near the end of the summer if the trend keeps up. Check out the thread here for past lease cash.

If you can find a '19 used for around $36-37k OTD, that could be a good way to go. I personally wouldn't pay the going rate for an '18 since they lack the cooled seats and they're a model year older. I agree with Logic that we'll see used prices drop more significantly when lease returns come up.

OMG, Sabs, long time, no hear! I didn't know you've got an SX as well. I've not visited PO in awhile, even though I still have my Prelude.

Well, the '19 I mentioned earlier (in Panthera Metal), though new, has nearly 5k miles by the dealership. It is near my ballpark on what I want to spend new though. I was going to visit another Kia dealership closer to me tomorrow night (one with the Costco Auto Program discount) so see what they could offer. I want it to be in the same ballpark or lower as the other '19. The one this dealership has is in white.

If you can still get the lease incentives on that one, it could be a really nice price. That’s a lot of miles if it’s a dealer demo, but I wouldn’t be any more hesitant about a 5k mile dealer demo than a 500 mile one - as long as it’s CPO.

I have a EX premium with powder coated black sx wheels, I was coming from a RL with the v6 and SHAWD and that thing was a guzzler. I very much miss the power now though and it's time for my wife to get her upgrade first. I'm in a holding pattern until then haha. I need the prices of the telluride SX to go down first haha, mama has to get here before I can get mine. That said I'm targeting 18 GT2 or 19GT1 in the mid to high 20s.

Just a heads up, i am assuming most reading this thread are in the market. There is a red stinger GT AWD on ebay asking 28,500, description says car is extremely clean with 8700 miles. THE CAR HAS A REUBUILT TITLE. I almost put an offer in until i searched more carefully.

Seems like there's a number of Optima owners here that are planning or have upgraded. :) I went from a modded Ficus Green Pearl '99 Honda Prelude Type SH (which I still have), to the Remington Red '13 Optima SX, adding a BOV plate, ARK coilovers, and Niche M204 wheels in anthracite. I did have a '02 Mitsubishi Galant ES in between those two...I shall not speak of that one further. :p Late last summer, upgraded the wifey from an aging '08 Acura MDX SH-AWD to the '18 Kia Sorento EX V6. The MDX handled great (loved the SH-AWD), but had all kinds of electronic gremlins and odd issues. If I had known the Telluride was coming that winter, I would've waited. :(

Back to subject, I'm heading to a dealership near me tonight to check out their GT1's on the lot. Online, they said they have 1 available (in white), but went by the lot last night and seems like they have a black one and one in Ceramic Silver. The silver looks really nice in person, but the front plate mount screwed into the bumper turned me off. I'll report on what they attempt to offer me, which will include any discount from the Costco Auto Program.

Came across a CPO'd GT2 in red (with just under 5k miles) at a Hyundai dealership for $37,900. It's considerably lower than any used GT2s in the area, so I'm curious about it. I set an appt to see it, which is a couple of hours after checking the new GT1s.

Hey Dave—could you explain a “rebuilt title?” I’m assuming it’s been involved in a wreck? Or is it a financial deal?

I’m really enjoying this thread. I’m relatively new to the board and I’ve got Stinger fever—bad.

I’m wanting a used GT in the $27k range (it’s all my budget will allow ).

But seems like I’ll have to be patient for several more months.

Welcome to the club of those of us with the feels but not able to buy right now

Mine is not so much cost as much as it's time for my wife's upgrade (08 pilot vs 13 optima) and she wants a telluride SX which ain't being discounted anywhere near what I need it to be but yeah I'm targeting high 20s around early 2020
