US pricing?

$52,595 with destination fee. Then we haven't even thrown taxes in... I just don't think this car can enter the market like that and expect to be successful. I'm starting to think that they are planning on mostly just selling the 2.0Ts... I'd be surprised if there was any more than one GT2 at each dealer, tops

Completely agree. That is way over "topping out at under 50k".

I just don't see people paying $52,595 for a Kia. Even the "enthusiast" set, like those on this forum, will likely have some reservations. Never mind the "regular" folks. Just ask all the people who don't buy the K900 or even the 46k Cadenza.

Also good to see the equivalent GT2 AWD model is $41,000 USD in Canada. Thanks for the 11k extortion further south Kia.

Very disappointed.

If the price for the Gt2 holds true. I think I will take my money elsewhere. Why would they even think of offering the V6 without limited slip. With that being said I don't think the pricing for the 2.0t is bad, just not the model I am looking for. Just waiting now for official price release and Buick GS.

For that price I may even reconsider a M2.

Just be sure to do your research before you buy an M2.

I owned a 1997 M3 for 10 years, and there was hardly a two-week period during that entire time when there wasn't SOMETHING wrong with it.

I had thought before I bought it (brand-new, ordered from the factory) that BMWs were reliable, but it turned out to be the LEAST reliable car I've ever owned.

Bahama: A price of $37,000 for a 2.0 is way out of line. I can get a BMW 330i for about $37,000 due to their heavy discounts. Kia is not BMW, even if that is the aspiration. The Premium 2.0T with all the tech and AWD should be no more than $35,000. The base should be closer to $30,000. The base isn't going to have the adaptive dampers, so really the pricing should more like a Buick Regal's. Those are topping out around $34,500 unless you want the GS Regal. Those will be around $39,000, so in line with the GT.

I think this conversation is great. :) Shows how many different economic demographics are interested in this vehicle. I fully agree with the folks commenting that the existing German dealers can likely be negotiated down, whereas the early Stinger buyers probably won't have that luxury. I even figured I could use the Stinger to my negotiating advantage on a German car, if I decided it ultimately wasn't a fit for me (if you haven't seen my other post, I'm a legroom guy...and it does fit!). I will admit that I currently have a little bit of economic wiggle room, so the prices don't really concern me. I also locked that $50K+ price into my brain as soon as I got the pricing survey(s) from Kia marketing, so I've never really expected anything lower.

Best wishes to everyone finding the car they want at the price point they want. I really want a sports sedan/hatch, not a "hot hatch," so my choices are pretty limited by the rarity of that feature. (Don't even get me started on the sport wagon desert we live in. :()

I too have some wiggle room, but the car still has to be priced right to make me a buyer. I don't think 52k is priced right.

You have to look at not only what features and options you get at that price but also need to take into account the expected depreciation.

I just looked and you can get a 2015 k900 with 29k miles that originally was over 60k for 28k that is over a 50% depreciation in 2 years.

If I buy a 58k Jag and in 2 years it has only lost 25% of its value I am WAY ahead. In 2 years I'll have a car worth around 40k instead of a car worth 25k I have a car with more options and am 9 grand ahead. (Spent 6 grand more but have 15k more value)

Good luck with the Jag. I've seen one on almost every top ten list of cars with the worst depreciation. KIA Cadenza is there as well. Here's a sample.

I see how you are kind of in a silo with your selection criteria so the Stinger might be the best match in a small pool of choices.

But I can't in good conscience buy something that is priced higher than it should be just because I can afford it and it will likely not have any impact on my personal bottom line.

Yeah I looked online at KBB and they claim the 58k r sport should lose 34k value over 5 years. Not great but not horrible. But way better than the k900 for sure. (obviously as it's a new model this year it must be just an educated guess) the stinger is not listed on their site yet.

Well, you were a bit unfair with the 2015 K900 when you called it a two year old car. I'm in 39th month of a 4 year lease on a 2015.

Considering on 5/12/15 it only had 18 miles on it, yeah it's 28 months old not 24.

Depreciation isn't figured from one car though. I got my 2015 K900 in late June 2014. I'd imagine it is considered a 3-year-old car currently on the various sites that price cars. I don't really care at this point because I'm turning it in and walking away. Or rather, driving away in a new Stinger. lol

I feel you, I was going to turn in my optima at the end of the lease but it was worth 4.5k more than the residual so I "had" to buy it.

If you don't mind me asking, so we can maybe get an idea on the lease of the stinger, what is your residual on your k900?

30K Lease is up June 18.

I was hoping for a GT spec'd 2.0, or at least a well spec'd one for 35.
Went yesterday to order my '18 loaded Mustang on xplan and will be about 38 otd. Hope they'll have official numbers by December.

I think the 2.0Ts will actually do pretty well. Dealers will be able to unload a handful of mid-trim GTs as well, but not as many as the 4-cyl. The GT2s are going to be very very rare though, so I guess there is at least that if that's important to you.

The more I research, the more pissed off I'm getting about the pricing structure of the U.S. versions of the GT spec. Kia's gonna ask for $52k+ for their GT2 trim with AWD, and can't include LED taillights like in other markets!?! No 360 degree view camera? WTF!?!

Thanks for letting me vent.
