How will Kia be able to price the fully loaded gt 10k+ lower than the competition equally equipped with same performance. If in fact they are priced 10k lower what corners are they cutting? I believe the GT will be a very competitive car in every way this is why I believe it will be priced at 48k+.

I don't think Kia is cutting corners. A big chunk of that price difference is buying you a fancy badge. But just like every car, the Stinger will have its pros and cons when compared to Kia's market targets.

Pros
  • More interior room
  • Better warranty
  • Kia makes some very reliable cars, no reason to think the Stinger won't fall right in line
Cons
  • Heavier
  • Worse fuel economy (~20% less vs. BIC)
  • Slightly slower (half second or less in a straight line)
But to link back to the topic of this thread, price can overcome a lot of cons and too high of a price can shine a spotlight on them.

I read somewhere prices in US will start around 31K and approach 50K, depending on motor and Equipment. I will probably be looking at one of the less expensive Versions once my Optima lease is up.

I want a loaded stinger gt. Everything but AWD but if it's pushing $50k forget it, and it also seems to be the results of the survey I posted $45k or less is leading what most are willing to spend.

Kia has been saying from the beginning that a fully loaded V6 Stinger will cost under $50k. I'm sure that means pretty much "just under" $50k.

David, can you please post the MotorTrend link where you found this pricing information?

I've checked all the MotorTrend articles for the last week and the only thing I can find is "base $40,000, as-tested $50,000."

Thanks.

One of their best journalists, Jonny Lieberman, announced this via his Instagram. I asked him where he got this number, and he said KMA told him the $ figure.

Thanks, I read the Instagram post. If proven accurate, I'll buy a year's subscription to Motor Trend to thank the guy for the good news!

So it starts at $4700 MORE than it does in Canada. That still seems like theft to me.

If that price increase holds true for the "loaded" AWD GT model as well then it should come in at ~$45,695.

Earlier rumors had the "AWD + heated steering wheel" package coming in at $2000.

So the RWD GT models would be:
Base - $39,595
"Loaded" - $43,695

That's a pretty damn good price, tbh. For reference, a Camry XSE V6 is $38,000.

If we ignore me being triggered by the price discrepency with Canada  then we might be were Kia needs to be to compete effectively.

If my price estimate for the loaded GT AWD holds true then it beats out the loaded '18 Acura TLX AWD by a small margin (could be a more substantial amount if the Kia price includes destination).

It also looks like it will be in the same ballpark as the loaded '18 Buick Regal GS as well.

If it's in the 40-45 range, I'll definitely be pulling the trigger on a rwd model. Now the question is what colors get the red seats since that was brought up in the other markets.

After seeing and reading more about the G70, I think Kia is going to compete with Buick dodge and other mid grade performance sedan and be priced in the low 40k fully loaded. Acually isn't Kia the lowest grade of the company? I think the G70 will more compete with BMW, AUDI, ect.

I'm looking at the 2.0T. Local dealers really don't have much. However, today one from Syracuse, NY finally called me back with a range. Starting price will be about $32,000 with loaded at $42,000. It was the best news I've had in awhile. It means I will definitely be able to afford at least a base model.

A fully loaded 2.0T for $42K seems like theft.

If you really think the price is an issue just compare it to Germany where the 3.3 GT starts at €54,900 / $65,000. And then add more than $6 per gallon for gas. You should feel much better now ;)

Yeah, I think that's sort of the idea. The Genesis G70 will compete more directly with the luxury brands and Kia with TECHNICALLY compete with brands like Acura, Buick, etcetera. But the truth is, the Stinger COULD compete with the same cars the G70 does. All that's needed is a luxury badge and the service to go along with it.

Nice. I'm in the same boat. Hoping the RWD 2.0T is under 40k.
