Great day,

Has anyone tried this light weight underdrive Pully from sharkracing.com I know that underdrive pulleys can add a little HP&TQ but I'm concerned about the belt slipping off since the pulley is slightly smaller then stock although the site states there will be enough tension from the tensioner! Any logical thoughts?

I always worry about the resulting loss of current and water flow.

If there were good OE diameter replacement lightweight pulleys to reduce some rotating mass I’d consider them.

I completely agree, that's why im going to weight until some other brave soul test this! I have know folks to experience under charged batteries as well as dim lights while stopped at a red light which is a no go! But im sure some company will come out with light weight aluminum pulley sets for out cars in the future!

Frankly you won't notice any difference with that pulley. It is pretty, though.
Worst case you'd need a shorter belt to take up the slack. Belts are commonly available in 1/2" increments.

Do you know of anyone who has installed it but still used the stock belt?

Read the description in the link I posted, it says no need to change belt.

Nobody I know, just found it on that website
Yeah I saw that as well but until it's tried an has been tested by a user it's hard to take a companies word! Now if they put it on a test car an posted the results that would be different. That's why I love Tork Motorsports they test their products on their own vehicles or customers vehicles an post results!

Yes I totally agree, until I know it’s been tested or supplied by reputable manufacturers I wouldn’t touch it either especially components such as this.

If your car was a max effort, all-out race car, then this would be worth it to squeeze out every last bit of power.

On a stock car, it won't add much power (if any); probably at most 3-5 hp.

Also, in the description is says it will lower coolant temps but I doubt that since your thermostat regulates the coolant temp, not the water pump speed.

Not worth it unless you want a cool looking water pump pulley.

Lol agreed! That's why it would be neat if someone made a WP out of carbon fiber or aluminum that was the same demenssions but lighter then the cool effect would be there but without the risk screwing things up!

Bringing the old thread back. Just found that pulley at shark racing. Does anyone have any experience with it???

So i went ahead and ordered that water pump pulley. Took less than a week for delivery from Korea!!! Looks pretty nice, and is very light. Probably will install it with new serpentine belt. Also, it doesn't look to be much smaller in diameter. Maybe 1/4 of an inch at the most. 20210811_114020.webp
