Turbo Waste Gate Screech

The noise is comming from where the wastegate actuator arm meets the turbo housing, if you spray it with rust off it will remove the noise. So far mine has been 30 mins no noise, most likely will come back. Also after i removed the noise from the RH side, I noticed the left side had the exact same noise. I would like Genesis/Hyundai/Kia to update the turbos for this noise before i replace them.

Is this the specific part of the actuator arm you're referring to? If so, I can see how that thing would get squeaky.

My recent visit to the dealer had this "issue" on the to-do list. Tech verified noise but said it might be from my Tial BOV doing something. He didn't want to take a closer look until I replaced it with the factory setup. Seems they haven't gotten any customers in for this one yet like they have for the brakes issue and head unit problem, which were all repaired no questions asked.

Any more recent updates on this issue? This has been a persistent issue on my car, but I've been avoiding the dealer as they've damaged my car several times when I've brought it in.

As above, I'm more concerned that this noise indicates some sort of negative symptom. If it's just a noise, I'm not as concerned, even if I am disappointed, it sounds like I'm not maintaining my car.

The noise isn't indicative of any problem from what I've seen. You can literally think of it as a squeaky door hinge. If the wastegate were having problems, you'd feel a major power difference, and you'd most likely have a CEL.

My new turbo is making the same noise so I tend to agree. I think it’s just a noise. I’ve had no other turbo issues

I have a 2020 gt 1500miles and has the same noise coming from driver side wastegate so it may be just a sneaky hinge

My Forte Turbo Koup makes the exact same noise when turning off.
I don't think much of it.

I just got around to reading the December 2019 issue of Motor Trend (or was it R&T??) and their long term review of the Stinger was in there. They mentioned a noise coming from the turbos have to shutting off the engine, since day one, and I wonder if that's the same thing we're experiencing.

I have a Panthera Metal GT. This is coming from the left turbo waste gate. Sound is when I turn the car off. My dealership says this is normal. But obviously it’s not.
Not normal, Kia replaced under warranty,

Sounds exactly like my car since day one along with a ton of other owners on here. Although I'm sure some dealers will replace a turbo to fix the noise, I'd be surprised if it doesn't just end up returning. I think it's just one of those annoying quirks that the car has based on design. I happened to notice it because I only ever drive my car from garage to garage and it's much easier to hear when you shutdown in a enclose space with your window down.

You can always swap them out for a dual top mount big turbo upgrade with all new wastegates... :)

No one said it's normal. We just said that it's not indicative of turbo failure. It's literally a squeaky wastegate arm. If your dealer is nice enough to replace your turbo(s), then more power to you!

I know I'm late to the party. But my 2021 GT1 just started making this exact noise in the same spot as the picture above with the red circle. I can hear it coming from this exact spot. Called the dealership but still waiting on a call back. From the info I've gathered from you guys and other sites I'm going to try some silicone based lubricant spray. It seems a little to tight to get a grease in there properly. So I'm going to the auto store after work to get a spray and see what that does. I may eventually try a silicone grease but for now I just want to see if a lubricant will even doing anything. I read on some other sites that silicone based grease/sprays are best for this task. I'll let everyone know the results after I try the lube and test it out some.

The risk assoaoyed with o replacing perfectly functioning turbos to perhaps just temporarily fix the minor squick is insane.
