Turbo Oil Feed Tube Fail

I don't understand why people were paying for this outta pocket when there is a recall? Did people not know of the recall? Shouldn't the dealership have known???

I take my car to a Kia/Nissan dealership, the one time they took longer than expected to repair it, they had it a couple days cuz the part was delayed. They provided me with a brand new Nissan Pathfinder for a couple days, never had an issue with the rental and I didn't have to pay anything for it. Could it be that some dealerships are just plain better than others in that regard?

Yes. Owners who paid for a leaking oil feed pipe did not know about the recall when they paid out of pocket. The recall notice is fairly new.

No, the dealerships do not get advanced information on upcoming recalls. As evidenced by this thread, sevel Stinger owners knew about the recall well before the dealerships.

Ok, I see, that makes more sense. I just figured the dealership would know about it beforehand.

I haven’t seen a single dealership personnel in the 6 different dealerships I’ve been to even knew what my car was. They didn’t even know Kia made the car… One time a salesperson thought it was a Supra. LMFAO. I’ll admit, the service advisors seems to know more but I’m not sure if they do some research as I usual schedule appointments ahead of time and let them know i’m in bringing in a Stinger.

The only non-average person interaction I receive from the Stinger is from independent mechanics or random car guys and even they don’t know much besides it’s “fast”.

This should give you an idea on what you’re gonna deal with getting information from anyone outside the two groups I listed. It kinda sucks sometimes.
 
What's the replacement Part Number's needed? anyone know?

My recall letter that I rec'd yesterday from Genesis for the same issue w/ the 3.3T oil tube states that owners that had the tube fail may be reimbursed. So hopefully those that paid for this prior to the recall will be taken care of.

For sure, mad they will likely still need to go through the recall, 2nd replacement, to get the updated part. It is unlikely that their first replacement has the updated part, prior to the official recall.
 
From the top. Right above and behind the left turbo (left hand-side from the drivers seat) and above the primary cat. There are two coolant lines that cover the oil line making it next to impossible to see but with a borescope you should be able to get a view of it. Straight down from the oil dipstick tube.

Post #114 in this thread shows a photo of the engine out and you can barely see the line.

ugh, just got my letter yesterday too.
I really don't want all that stuff pulled apart.
Anybody know what this line is made out of? And if it breaks completely does that then pump all the oil out until it's dry?

Does anyone know if Kia adds a unique identifier in the part number, to identify the upgraded part?

It would suck if someone was to buy this part number online and receive new old stock, of the original defective part

It's hard on both sides, and has a flex pipe in the middle

Easy 3.2 hours with special tools listed

Drain and fill coolant, replace some oil - replace dipstick pipe - weird .
Thanks for posting that detailed install link, quite a few steps to get that replaced but nothing major :) Hopefully my Genesis dealer will have done a few before getting to mine :P)

That looks pretty major to me. Even a simple coolant flush is a pain in the a** on this engine as the bleeding procedure can be finicky. Be prepared to get your car back and have to take it back in because they didn't bleed the air out properly. Or didn't re-connect a line properly and have coolant everywhere, or didn't put the pins back in properly on your under-cover panel and it rips off on the highway, or dent your side-skirts when they lift the car, or the list goes on...

that bulletin says vehicles produced through June 29, 2022
my door panel shows August 2022 as the date of manufacture

anybody knows if that actually means it has a different one? Or the door tag date may not be totally accurate?

Be prepared to get your car back and have to take it back in because they didn't bleed the air out properly. Or didn't re-connect a line properly and have coolant everywhere, or didn't put the pins back in properly on your under-cover panel and it rips off on the highway, or dent your side-skirts when they lift the car, or the list goes on...
I'm staying optimistic, hopefully my Genesis dealer will have done a few before getting to mine. We live 800 miles away (we're using the Las Vegas, NV dealer, so not ideal to be so far away if something was missed, or done improperly. Oh well, Vegas is about gambling so hopefully I won't roll craps :)

agreed
one of those jobs that from a technical position it's cake, but a living nightmare to access the area. Plus all the liquid seals that have to be broken and resealed and several crush washers.
