Totally dissapointed in the EV6, what chance do we have for a EV Stinger?

Been waiting for a EV version, bought the Stinger since this is the death years of petrol/diesel cars here in Scandinavia, but always wanted a good one to drive, the tax is like 5K on newer ones due to new legislations, can't afford that..

Why, if it's like they said, that the chassis is prepped for a EV version, do they release this butt ugly EV6? :o

What are the chances of seeing a EV/Hybrid Stinger? I think it is for some reason, slim to none, looking at that KIA didn't get what they made with the Stinger, which should have been lifted from the brand and sold in Stinger stores.. :\

They built such a nice car and just flopped bringing it to market, imho, marketting idiots. Haven't even seen a commercial for it up here!

I asked a similar question and there were very few comments on it. I think there is a good chance since Hyundai is potentially working on an electric G70, and the Stinger is built on the same platform.

it will be interesting to see if the stinger will continue and if it will become an ev.. I'm surprised the genesis g80e (naming) isn't on the new platform but rather they stuffed batteries and electric motors into it's existing chassis. This means it's got some disadvantages for packaging so weight/range/performance can't be as optimized.

No chance. Anything EV later with the name "Stinger" on it will be a wholly different animal. And probably butt ugly in the bargain (Tesla).

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Lots of people (myself included) think the EV6 looks cool! But as for a Stinger-esque EV, there's no telling at this stage. I get where Merlin is coming from with the Mach-E taking the Mustang name, but there are lots of cool looking electric cars (Audi e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan) so it's not like it's an impossibility that there could be a good looking 'Stinger' EV in the future - but it likely won't happen for a few years. KIA has electrified one previously non-electric car (the Soul) so there's a bit of a precedent, but I would expect them to let the refreshed Stinger sell for a few years and funnel performance EV buyers to the EV6 during that time. But in the future, who knows.

I think we'll start to see more creative EV designs too. The physical requirements of an EV to an ICE are very different, and right now there's lots of Tesla influence in everything. That will diminish as time goes on, I'd expect.

Shoe, it's actually the G80 that Genesis is making electric, and it's a different platform than the stinger (and for that matter so is the G70 - they just share a drivetrain).

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
lmfao probably the new EV Stinger will be like the new nonsense "Mustang" transformed into the opposite of what it once was... the new EV Stinger will be a crossover/SUV just with a Stinger logo of some sort on it...

With KIA/Hyundai's plans for future EVs in the next 5yrs, I think there's a good chance a model will be released that at least in part resembles the Stinger or better. KIA has grown tremendously (in reputation w/o a doubt) with its recent models/updates and it looks like that may continue with the EV6. Hopefully they keep the designers and engineers of the Stinger a few more yrs! The craze of EVs I think is about to begin very shortly, you have states jumping on this bandwagon of banning combustion engines by 2030, and Biden as president with his EV agenda.
The Stinger was the test flight of a sports car for KIA and they didn't expect to have any impact on the Euro market especially. In the US I saw a lot of commercials for the Stinger. Just targeted marketing. Seems like Europe can't get over its disapproval of outside car companies for whatever reason - don't see many cars that are not from Europe.
Prediction EV Stinger released spring 2026

I hope they don’t try and make a Frankenstein EV called the ‘Tellustinger’ or ‘Stingerride’ front end of a Stinger and the back end of a Telluride or visa versa. Lol

I think if the Stinger nameplate sticks around, it will eventually find it's way onto something electric. I quite like the styling of the EV6 GT. I don't really have any qualms about it from an appearance or performance perspective. I just can't see myself buying an electric vehicle until the charging infrastructure:

1. Is easily accessible. Even Tesla struggles here in certain areas, leaving the interstate to try and find a random hotel or Costco that has a Supercharger seems extraordinarily annoying to me (although in Tesla's defense, I'm starting to see them at truck stops more and more). Worst, in many rural areas it seems the best you can do is try to find an RV park to charge it up.
2. Is rapid. The Tesla Supercharger (depending on the car ~35 minutes for a 90% charge) and Hyundai/Kia's "E-Pit" (~18 minutes for 80%) do a lot for this, but these chargers are not, and will not be everywhere overnight.
3. Is standardized. Just having the J1772 plug is not standard. Yes, it will charge. No, it will not happen quickly. Hope you have a few (to many) hours to spend waiting for a charge. With any gasoline car, I can use any gas station. Driving a BMW i3 or a Leaf or something and all you can find is a Tesla Supercharger? Too bad. No juice for you.

The fast and absurdly fast electric cars are exciting to me, but they won't be making their way into my garage anytime soon. I already have one alternative fuel car - my Regal which runs on straight E85 - and finding fuel for that is already difficult enough that I can't really take the car on any long trips (not that I'd really want to since it's a relatively highly modded project car, but the point still stands), but if I'm going $50k+ in debt for a car I'm going to want to drive it all over. Up until a month ago, I was regularly making 5 hour trips across half the state every couple of weeks. Even with a Tesla and their comparatively robust network, it still would have been annoying, although having just checked the Supercharger map, it seems they've added a charger along my old route which would now make it possible.

For someone who lives in/near a city and rarely makes long journeys, I think they'd be just fine.

I think it looks fine , for what it is . But it's not my car for sure ! If they reposition the Stinger onto an E platform with an updated "look" that competes with Porsche , Audi and Tesla I would be happy BUT the shift to cross overs and SUVs is going to be their top priority , Like Porsche they will need to have a full portfolio of vehicles , and like it or not these 3 E manufacturers are recreating the sports/sedan segment which will bring the market back to a new balance I believe.

can you do me a favor and punch Greta in the face? Thanks.

Also I agree with the others. Probably no chance an EV Stinger resembles the ICE Stinger.

Private jets like the G550 burn an insane amount of fuel and nobody bats an eye...

The commoners (aka us - the peasants) drive a car that gets 15mpg under spirited driving and everyone loses their minds...

Say what you will about the Mach E, Ford got exactly what they wanted, marketing hype, by putting the ‘Mustang’ badge on it. Whether people love it or hate it, people are talking about it and the ‘it’ is an EV. Ford is going to ride that pony, no pun intended, until the wheels fall off.

its a joke. What really needs to happen is the parents need to be punched in the face for child abuse. She has no passion for it. Shes being told what to do and say, thats clear. Again it was a joke and didnt mean to get all political. So if this derails any further it aint my fault.

She's being fed what to say via a script. I used to also believe what she said was genuine until watching he flounder during interviews that were not scheduled ahead of time or with questions being prepared in advanced. I'll leave it at that. The world population is very easy to control and manipulate. My family fled the Soviet Union and came to the USA in the early 1990's right as the USSR was collapsing. My parents and grandparents and relatives would tell me stories and when I was young I didn't believe it. Now that I'm older I see it. Scary stuff.
