Tire Pressure from the dealer?

Yes, see my post above on March 21. This is sloppy PDI by the dealer or mechanic who is NOT following the steps. No excuse for this. I would complain to the dealer and send a message to Kia. It's just a way for a lazy technician to short-cut the proper checklist which is very clear on his tablet when doing the PDI.

I just bought a 2018 GT2, tires are all around 50 PSI and it has 8k miles on...I've noticed a few things that concern me about how well the previous owner took care of this car, this being one of them. Obviously it would be the mistake of the dealer to not deflate them, but it's just another indication that this guy/gal did not do any kind of basic care for this car if they never checked tire pressures.

Most owners don't check tires (or anything). But the worst that can happen is premature center wear in the tread. You checked the tires and slammed all the doors, didn't you? ;)

Of course, all the standard car checks were done. ;)

Common mistake, it came from the factory with 50psi for the boat ride. Dealer didn't do a proper check and alter to 36 front and 38 back.

Yep, got it done. That's actually how I found this thread and site, I wanted to make sure this wasn't some kind of Stinger secret I wasn't aware of because it seemed odd to me that they would all be so over-inflated.

I know; by "stickered" I meant what is in the door jam. Interesting, didn't know about the deflate tire on PDI thing. I'll let some air out this weekend.

On public roads, you can expect a 10% increase on cold pressures once the tyres are "hot".

So if you want 36psi cold, and pull up after a long drive and tyres are at 40psi, you're pretty much right.

Yup, that's why I was referring to the different pressures with "hot" and "cold."

Three of my tires were over 50lbs and the fourth was 36lbs from the dealer. What is also weird is the one tire that had the correct tire pressure had a completely different stem cap than the other three??

As I'm sure has been mentioned, tires are often over-inflated from the manufacturer to prevent flat spots when the cars sit in transport and on lots.

A good dealer would preemptively set proper tire pressure but it is very important to check your self.

My brand new GT1 (pics coming soon in a new member intro, getting detailed as we speak) had pressures at around 50#s when I set off the lot. Promptly deflated to the recommended pressures.

Clearly the OE tire failed or was damaged and a replacement put on and inflated to the correct psi. The other three were never even given a second glance.

I've had my Stinger for a few months now. We are taking it to California this Wednesday. Got under the hood, checked the tires last week. Decided to check the spare tire also. It had a whole 20 pounds in it. It should have 60 psi. Can't count on the dealer.

My tires came with 50psi form the dealer when I bought, I brought it back to them for the 1st oil change and to get the brake issue taken care of, they never adjusted the tire PSI to 38/36, I did after reading about this being an issue here.

I now have a local dealer I use for service and each time I bring it in they lower the tire pressure to 36/34 because my drive to them usually increases the PSI by 2, so I know they check it, I just need to tell them to leave it alone,, ha ha

The thing that made me roll my eyes was the dealer claimed they did their 100+ point inspection to make sure the car is perfect. Maybe I'm wrong but I would think that checking the tires would be part of that:unsure:.

That's the 101 point inspection which costs $49.99.
