Tire Pressure from the dealer?

Don't see a need to monitor over-inflation - unless you have ne'er-do-wells sneaking around and pumping up random tires in the middle of the night. Once adjusted correctly, air pressure is only going in one direction ... :)

Unless you check them in the winter and then park the car in the sun in summer. :)

So your car is AWD? I'm curious why the PSI requirement would be different front to back for the same tires.
Yes it's AWD. Pretty sure there's no reason for the PSI difference other than that Kia just has the same stickers stamped on the door regardless of the wheel option made further down the line.

My 2.0L fitted with 18"s all around with Continental summer tires were at 41 and i lowered them down to 37. Door sticker does say 36 front and 39 rear. Find that these printed pressures are rather high. Previous car had low profile UHP summer tires on and at 35psi which i considered higher than the normal 32 or 33. Normal city driving in the tropics usually brings it up by 2 to 3 psi easily.

It is not unusual for tire pressures to be different front to rear. My G8 GT has summer performance tires on it (factory) and the front / rear pressures on the door sticker are 36 / 39 -- same tires, RWD.

if you didn't follow the ridiculous tire pressure recommendations for the Chevy Corvair (15 PSI front, 26 PSI rear) it would literally immediately flip over and kill you, your family, and everyone you know - according to Ralph Nader at least.......

I'm almost 2,000 miles in and I just now decided to check my TPMS...

48 front and back cold...51 front/52 back hot...seems a little high when cold is stickered at 38/36.

It's not massively overfilled, but I've been debating on deflating them down to around 42/44 hot.

Anyone have a similar experience; thoughts?[/QUOTE

I just bought a new Kia stinger gt , same thing 51 pounds in every tire From dealership. I Noticed within the 1st few days It just seemed like it was riding too hard . Inside the door jam It reads 36 pounds cold. I dropped it down to 40 Pounds. What a difference it made. It rides so much better. I don't know why They over inflate the tires so much at the dealership. I will have to ask the next time I go in. Sides that This car is freaking awesome!!.

Same thing?

I just bought a brand new Kia stinger Gt. Same thing 51 pounds all around. I just felt like I was riding way too hard. I dropped it down to 40 pounds All the way around.. The door Jam reads 36 pounds cold. So I still have 4 pounds above. But what a huge difference it made it ride so much smoother. I don't know why they

overinflate the tires so much at the dealership.

Apparently that is standard for shipping. I was there during the PDI on my Stinger and the technician said they are always overinflated when they come off the transport. No big deal. The dealer service department should check them because it's on the checklist. If they are overinflated when delivered, they didn't do their job.

I believe the door placards are put on last, and are tire size specific. The manual may show them all, but Gospel is the car placard. This isn't from a Stinger though.
PRESSURE PLACARD.webp

My retarded dealer did the same thing. Took me two days of thinking "wow, this ride is firm" and "man these tires are loud" to finally check their pressures. I was shocked that a dealer could allow a vehicle to leave with tire pressures at 50+. What at nice ride at the recommended 36 psi!!

There is NO excuse for having tires over-inflated after a proper PDI at the dealership. I watched the entire PDI on my GT2 (thanks to Superior Kia, Fayetteville, AR for allowing that) and it is done with a tablet checklist. Tire pressure is one of the items on the list, so the technician just either missed it skipped it as being too much trouble. No excuse for that, since the tire pressure monitor does not warn of over-inflation, just under inflation even though the pressures are show in the display for that function.

Those pressures are fine. Door plaque indicate minimum pressures and should not drop lower. Tyre should list max pressure I think. I run all mine 42 cold

I thought that the recommended increase, when hot, was 4-6 PSI to show that the tires are flexing a little. The TPMS reset tool also reads pressure, and are usually spot on. Page 7-40 in the owner's manual.

52 all around on my GT2 when picked up...car was in showroom also. Have a feeling the PDI was "blasted" through in similar manner to my "delivery" checklist. That is, tick all the boxes but dont actually do the work

The allowed PDI time on a Stinger GT2 is about 1.2 hours. A technician can "beat" that time only if they skip some steps and don't perform the test drive (hell, let customers go hot-rod it instead.)

Door plaque are recommended pressures, not minimum. 42 cold is fine, but mine were nearing 50 "cold" on a hot day.

Needless to say, I let some air out, at around 38/39 and 36/37 cold, up to 42/40 when driving, and a much smoother ride.

Same story here... got it home from the dealer and thought the ride was pretty stiff. Sure enough, pressures were at 55/57 (front/rear). Amazing difference now that I lowered them down to recommended.
