This is why you need a dashcam

I will be interested in hearing if the OP actually gets his dent fixed. I can totally see her insurance company saying, "Meh, this happens and it's normal wear and tear. Live with it." And the woman herself is obviously not going to make it good.

That's what I thought my insurance company will say but Nope. Those are covered under your collision.

I have to wait a few days for the police report to get entered into the system then I can follow up and provide supporting information (videos, pictures) for the police to track her. I'm going to try to get her insurance information and deal with her insurance before involving mine.

Another reason for a dash cam. A city cop stopped me, walked up and said, "The reason I stopped you is for failure to stay in your lane. Your driver's license and insurance please." "Where", I asked. He said, "3/4 of a mile back, in front of the truck stop". I gave them to him and waited. 6 minutes later he came back to my door and said, "Here's a warning ticket." He went back to his car and I continued.

I was a little pissed because I was quite sure I had not been outside of my lane, but starting an argument with a cop that is handing you a warning ticket doesn't seem like a good idea. The next morning I remembered, I do have a dash cam. So I downloaded the files and scanned them. Sure enough, I stayed in the same lane since leaving home, (except several miles previously, passing a pickup and a truck), with the cruise control set on 65 in a 75 zone (4 lane, limited access highway).

I have no idea what he really wanted, but had he written me a real ticket, I could certainly have taken the video record to court and proved it was bogus.

.. except you would need to find a way to prove that the video you use as evidence was from the time of the stop. It's easy to "fake" video.

Having video from a rear-facing cam would probably suffice.

Did this happen while you were driving the Stinger? If yes, that's why he pulled you over, to get a good look. ;)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I'm guessing that's a likely reason. Maybe he has a quota of so many stops /hr /day? The audio on the dashcam includes him stating why he stopped me and "Here's a warning ticket.". So it's pretty solid evidence.

I could mix audio clips from one video over a different video in seconds, and there would be no way to tell. That said, it's just a warning so it doesn't matter in this situation.

Three warnings in the first three months of ownership: I deduced that cops wanted a closer, longer look at my car. :D

Finally got around to installing my dash cam yesterday. I used this OBD switch instead of the fuse. If I ever pull the trigger on a JB4 I'll have to go the fuse route I suppose.
