Things you would change...

I read and do this myself: with the GATE you can just shut the car off and it puts it into park and puts the emergency brake on itself. Therefore the engine won't kick back on.

The storage pocket in the side of the door could be deeper and lined with a softer surface. That's my only complaint so far (it's only been a week - give me time)

It would have been nice to see the accent lighting go to the rear door pockets as well. Since the power window switches are lit it couldn't have been too much more wiring expense. Agree with others on many of the other wishes -- especially tank size, autostop deactivation from settings screen, and having to plug in for Apple CarPlay. It seems my phone will randomly disconnect from CarPlay too. I think it's my iPhone as same phone would randomly disconnect/reconnect bluetooth on my Optima. So likely not a car issue.

"Things I would change:

4. It would be cool if it would change the interior accent lighting with drive mode and double cool if you could choose the color for each mode. This one's kind of a goofy idea but it might be entertaining."

While you can't choose the color for each drive mode, you are able to manually change the ambient lighting color from red to blue to green and so on. You access it from the controls on the right side of your steering wheel.

Paddle shifters on the steering column and not on the wheel
Stinger badge across the back instead the KIA logo as stock
Paint that lasts more than a year
More aggressive exhaust
New horn
Higher quality leather
Narrower bezel on the touchscreen
Functional hood vents

How do you shift gears manually in a turn with paddles on the column ?????

I have the Premium. I would want ventilated seats (both of my Optimas had this. Not sure why they couldn't include that in the Premium) and I would add in the power liftgate. Additionally, I had puddle lights installed and wish they would come on when I approached the car. As they are now, I have to unlock the car for them to light. Other than those 3 things, I absolutely love the car!

Echoing the ISG being annoying as I am parking to shut down. Often the ISG won't even engage because of the complex of reasons that the manual alludes to. But invariably, I'll pull up slowly against the carport wall and touch the brake and the motor dies: only to kick back into life as I go into "P". I haven't developed the habit of turning ISG off just before I park.

1: Record function on the front and rear cameras so there’s no need to buy after market dash cameras.
2: Under mirror “welcome lights” activate when side cameras are activated & headlights on so you can see what you’re parking near in the dark (kerbs etc) as they are currently useless in the dark
3: Larger Stinger script on the rear as standard same as Korean version.
4: Deeper exhaust note, or the Aus bi-modal fitted as standard.
5: Ability to switch off the augmented engine sound pumped through the speakers. Would be nice to hear the engine on it’s own now and then.
6: Rearview mirror to be standard not magnified as is currently in the Aus model.
7: Bit more vision from the rear window would be good
8: Bigger fuel tank
9: Additional functional USB ports
10: Better quality or thicker paint, 1 month in and I’m already seeing small chips in the bonnet and front bumper.

Despite all of the above I absolutely love my GT Stinger especially when I leave others for dead at the lights lol

Wishlist for my GT2
1) Consistent movement through radio presets using the button on the steering wheel. Not one way if this screen is active and another if a different screen is active.
2) Ability to default to the current audio screen. I know where I'm going...
3) Offer a quicker way to adjust tone sliders for the radio. This should be way simpler to adjust on the fly.
4) Allow different tone and volume settings based on music source. Satellite, Bluetooth / Carplay, & terestrial radio (XM is 3x louder and has 4x the bass of other sources)
5) Make it more difficult to put the car in neutral while driving
6) Allow use of the shifter on the center console during manual mode. Pull back to upshift and forward to downshift.
7) Quicker engagement of Reverse. In quick parking maneuvers in traffic I have thought I put the car in reverse but it was only made it to neutral. Not helpful when trying to make the car go.
8) Either make the hood vents functional or remove them. Tacked on crap is tacky.
9) Standard remote start
10) Make map pockets deeper and level rather than at a slant so all your stuff ends up in the cup holder.
11) Tachometer in the HUD
12) HUD that works with polarized sunglasses
13) Have the throttle response of comfort mode be closer to that of Sport.

Just my thoughts. Some of them are nit picky but hey...

I gather that they are there in order to make aftermarket vents easier to install? Don't you require more air flow when you increase HP? There was ONE Stinger on this forum with a completely featureless hood. It looks pretty nice!

And while you are getting down on tacky, fake vents: what about those rear brake vents? Does anybody replace them with real vents to let out the asserted air pressure at speed, and to help airflow over the rear brakes?

Front brakes do 80% of the braking thus the functioning air vents, the rear brakes only do 20% hence the non functional rear vents . Or maybe the vent designer has stock in plastic :-)

I read something early on about airflow for increased aerodynamics, which gave me the early impression that all the visible "vents" would be fully functional. In fact "fully functional" was the term used, iirc. So I was a bit surprised when showing off my car to a friend for the first time when he bent down for a closer look, then scoped out the hood "vents" and observed that they are ersatz. News to me! I looked closer and had to agree that the stock "vents" are for show only. Hmm!? Since then I've asked several times if anyone knows of aftermarket real vents being installed. My sales rep told me that he knows of a local car that has been chipped to c. 425 HP and with added air intakes: I assumed that he meant the ersatz vents had been replaced with real ones. And I would like to know if anyone has put in real vents behind the rear wheel wells. I think that would be cool(er). :P Are there any real aftermarket rear vents out there? So far on this forum, that is not a mod that I have seen mentioned.

Relocate the engine air filter boxes so that I can change the air filters without removing the engine bay bars.

P.S., I don't have a Stinger yet but should be getting a GT2 soon.

@AngryVirginian Welcome. Obviously you've studied the car already from a "me do it meself" standpoint, i.e. you are probably a gearhead. I have zero communion with my engine bay, except to notice when it is getting dirty.

What color are you preferring?

Thanks for the welcome. My choice of color would be the not-so-shiny-silver. However, my wife likes the dark-grey-almost-black color. My wife will probably win as always. We both agree on the black interior. We will most likely wait for a 2019 as we both want the 360 camera.

@AngryVirginian My wife picked out the color: it was all about keeping winter road grime to a minimum of noticeability. Silky Silver was in her opinion the least likely to show dirt. I think she's right. And car color was way down on my list of important things (once I accepted that I wasn't going to get the competition orange unless I repainted the car). Turns out that Silky Silver is probably the least affected by random paint adhesion issues (on the paint chipping poll, Silky Silver didn't even have a single "yes I have paint failure" vote until a couple of weeks ago; and then bam, bam, bam, bam, four in a row in quick succession: I suspect "foul play" is involved :p).

I will have 360 degree camera envy. Nothing I can do about that!
