The United States is getting ALL the colors...

Sorry, I thought you were getting Ceramic Silver. There are getting 160 Red GT2's in the Northeast starting mid-Jan. No idea when Ceramic Silver GT2 AWD with 18" A/S will make it to the Northeast.
I will get Ceramic Silver if that color comes in before Silky Silver. I'm ok with either of those choices.

Has anyone come across a dealer who says they can place an order for anything in Sunset Yellow? At this point we're still waiting for some kind of real-world confirmation that it'll be available at all, right?

I talked to a dealer in Danbury, CT who said dealerships are having a contest to see who will get the Sunset Yellow Limited Editions. They will select the winners in January if I recall his words correctly.

I just got a call from my dealer stating that they just ordered me a GT2 AWD in Panthera Metal. I didn't have much time to talk, but I'm going to call the sales guy back in the morning to make sure they're correct with the options and trim level I requested. I'll report back soon!

I believe that would be an extremely significant development if true that they're able to submit orders for configurations not currently available on the US website. Please keep us posted (interior colors, any other previously unavailable options as well).

@yourKiainsider, any thoughts on whether this is likely?

Welcome back! I'm very interested in hearing how this works out...

Well... No Panthera Metal GT2 AWD for me. They requested it in black, because the initial request was rejected.

I was hoping to get a unicorn, but black/red will be pretty sexy, too. Only downside is that the projected delivery date is currently listed as March 1. :-/

Darn on the color. And darn on the wait! I hope it goes by quickly for you...

I'm still not 100% sure I'll pull the trigger... I was also adamant that I wanted the 19-inch rims on the AWD, and they got 18s. They said that their trainer told them that all AWD will be 18-inch. I called BS, and showed them Kia's inventory page, and how there are clearly 19s available on AWD units that are already in other local dealer inventories. They didn't know what to say.

Well, at least I know that if I did cave and give up my dreams of sunset yellow, I still wouldn't get a red GT1 until March anyway. So since I've got to stick out this Winter I may as well keep my Corvette and Optima into the Summer, by which point hopefully we'll know something about color availability on the 2019 models.

Hahahaha, so one of the AWD units with 19" wheels is actually on my dealer's lot, lol. They located it, and confirmed it, and said, "It comes with something called 'summer tires' on it". I sh*t you not, this is exactly how he phrased it. They're going to see what the deal is about my order, and "try" to get 19s on it.

UPDATE (Since I forgot to click "Post Reply" an hour ago): They just called back, and were able to ensure I will get 19s. Sheesh, lol.

I guess we can't be too surprised that Kia dealers fall flat on a lot of basic sporty-car knowledge. I can't think of any Kia model before last month that would be worth having Summer tires on.

Yeah, I know... But this guy was the more knowledgeable one. I was a little surprised by it.

Well, Panthera Metal is now a color option on the US Kia website. But....it is only available on the base GT model and not on any other model. Here's the "Features" page that shows all the current colors across the models.

Personally, I think it's a very interesting and nice car; but between the dealership experiences and KIA's handling of the distribution here in the US I am starting to fall OUT of love with the Stinger. I'm starting to think this is a car to watch and not buy while KIA figures things out.

It sounds to me like as production moves forward - we're getting more color options for more models. I imagine the options will be very robust when all is said and done. Perhaps the Stinger was a rushed roll-out. Anyone who owns a Stinger right now may appreciate that...

Panthera Metal was just about always available for the base GT trim on the configurator, but GT1 and GT2 swapped it for Ceramic Silver.

I ended up settling on black, because I believe Panthera Metal, will, in fact, be unavailable this year on anything besides the base GT.

To be fair, black looks nearly as amazing with the red interior as the Panthera Metal would have. Almost. Still arguing internally with the "something I can't have being better" envy, lol

Heard anything about the availability of your order?

You really can't go wrong with a black Stinger GT - as long as it's clean. That's the challenge. But when it IS clean - it looks amazing... Better than Panthera Metal. But I do like dark grey. However, mostly because it's easier to keep clean. :D

I don't expect to hear anything until mid to late February. The are getting their first GT2 on January 20 and it's a red one. The east coast is behind as the waves of Stingers come into this country. Since Ceramic Silver just hit the west coast in the second wave I'm hopeful that when the second wave hits the East Coast it will have Ceramic Silver in it in the GT2 trim.
