Possibly, but I can't see it being THAT different: usually the US and Australia get similar, but "slightly louder, more brash/sporty" versions of cars due to the demographics (and oftentimes lower emissions standards). Suppose the spring rates were increased, it wouldn't be enough to cross over from GT to sports car, at least I wouldn't think it would be... o_O
 
the Q50s [...] has much bigger problems

I found one on the lot, got in, saw the center console... got out. No amount of performance or exterior styling is worth having to see that disaster every time you have to drive somewhere. :confused::poop:

I read a few weeks ago on here that the Aus Stinger has the softest suspension tuning and the US Stinger has the stiffest. If I recall correctly that is. :P

Q50 is arguably the Stinger's biggest rival. After driving both there is absolutely no comparison the Stinger annhilates the Q50 with ease. I feel the HP rating of the Stinger is underrated or maybe Q50 overrated? Either way the Stinger is a monster at every speed regardless of RPM. Q50 is still using the same ancient transmission from the 370z LOL

I think what you felt was torque, Q50 red sport which has 400hp, has 350 ft lb torque starting at 1500 rpm while stinger has 376 ft lb starting at 1300 rpm. It does have better 0-60 than stinger but I assume rolling acceleration from stinger will be better, as stinger seems to limit torque at start for better transmission life.

I agree. I drove the Q50 RedSport first and thought if felt quick until I got in the Stinger and tried Sport mode.

Not even in the same ballpark, and think you’re right about the Q50 being overrated when it comes to its HP/TQ numbers. Comparing to the Stinger I’d say it’s easily down ~100TQ. Luckily we know how drastically underrated the Stinger is since most dynos show almost 400wtq or 470TQ @ the crank! So I guess 120TQ seems about right.:D

And don’t even get me started about the Q50s lousy transmission. It never felt like it was in the right gear and still didn’t shift as quick as the Stinger ever in Sport+ or whatever they call it.:rolleyes:
 
I'd have to disagree on the "handles... like a pure sports car" part, not at least until the springs and swaybars are swapped, lol

But you really need to slap some mods on it if it impresses you bone stock... NOW I'm happy with the car as it's making 520HP and has sport springs+swaybars. NOW it feels like the 4000lb sports car it looks like!

Are you making 520 whp to the wheels , and if so how is the rest of the drive train and transmission holding up , now those are Impressive numbers as, for the suspension, adding the rear sway bar and performance spring s , really does help this amazing car out :) just saying he he

He must be talking about crank HP because the current record for stock turbos is 490whp.

I was thinking maybe this person must have had to replace the drive line with that kind power :) but 490 whp must almost destroy the tranny as the lbft values must be well over 550 lbft:) the stock turbos work well then as well , these Stinger GTs are a Beast when well tuned and modded :)

Yes they are beasts when modded but we aren’t even scratching the bottom of the limits of the engine or transmission. The engine is made with forged rods and rated to about 800TQ and the transmission limits are listed at 1000nm or about 740ftlbs of torque!:D

We have a ways to go before tuners are putting true strain on the Stinger.:thumbup:

As someone else already pointed out, I'm referring to crank (HP). I'm making 442WHP (I always put the "W" there to be clear which is which).

Anything over 500HP is pretty impressive for a "Kia", lol

At the wheels it is 480 ftlbs.
That seems very low or a super conservative tune. The JB4 runs about 515wtq on 91octane with intakes only.:thumbup:

I've actually seen multiple Stingers in JB4 in dyno'd in person that are almost the same hp/ft-lbs numbers with intake and exhaust, two of which I have recorded and posted on this forum. Burger Motorsport's intake numbers are either on a different version than I was during my dyno, differences between our dynos, or some other secret sauce that I do not have. I will tell you this, my numbers are completely unbiased, repeatable, and I have nothing to gain. I do think that it is interesting that most people that are over 500 ft-lbs at the wheel are extremely modified and have *WAY* more than an intake.

With that said, post your dyno results.

My Stinger is almost fully modded for basic bolt on mods and over 500 lbft at the wheels, on 94 pump gas ⛽️ with a little octane boost but whp is not so high :)
