Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

Did dragy also show 121 on your fast ET run?
I put my stock mids back on. Last week run vs today. No real difference.
With da factored only .038 faster with the mid mod. (Run from the same spot)

no it's the 11.97 dragy above. Dragy was showing slower times by like .05 up to the 11.99 run. When I saw 11.97 at the end of the track on dragy I got excited thought it would be like an 11.93 run. Unfortunately that run dragy was faster. mph on dragy for the 121 run said 118.76. Dragy is fairly accurate but def not on slope.

I would have thought otherwise. So mids might not be all they are cracked up to be or perhaps your car was tuned for the stock mids?

I doubt mids or catback do anything other than sound. Primary seem to increase spool slightly which helps the X drive cars get off the line but not sure they do much for traction limited RWD cars. Not seeing customers report higher traps with them.

So, basically just intakes + JB4 until you're ready for the big stuff like WMI / E85I?

Intakes are not necessary. I had JB4+WMI on my otherwise stock car for a while.

They aren’t necessary, but easily add 25-35whp with the extra boost from the JB4. Best non-JB4 mod you can do, especially for only ~$100.

Have other people also reported such significant gains on all the power band adding intakes? 25-35hp is huge!

Yes, most add about 15-25whp to the whole powerband and 30-40whp near redline. Tork dyno’d an extra 44whp around 6100RPM with muffler deletes & intakes (https://m.facebook.com/torktuned/posts/1763087967096135)and SSR claims almost 30whp at peak with intakes only.

As many people said our stock intake boxes are very restrictive and cone filter open intakes make a huge improvement, especially near redline. Hope that helps and happy tuning.:D

Personally, I'm not buying it.

To gain that much real hp, the OEM intake would have to be obstructed to the point of a check engine light coming on.

I prefer not believing dyno results provided by intake manufacturers. Tork has an ECU mapping that may be able to take advantage of the intake. I wonder if users with stock ECU have seen any noticeable improvements in either performance or dyno numbers by adding intakes.

The tricky thing with dyno results is that it is often measured with open hood and fans blowing towards the car. I bet most intakes will make much less gains with a closed hood and having to deal with the much hotter air inside the engine bay.

I can't speak on dyno numbers or track times but I can say I felt no difference going from stock to high flow K&N filters to Stillen intake.

I'm not sure if the 15-20 hp increase advertised by Stillen is enough to be felt in everyday driving anyway.

I'm also generally skeptical of dyno results provided by the person/company selling the product associated with the advertised increased numbers.

I was surprised how restrictive the factory intakes are, definitely good power potential there when tuned. Drop in filters don't remove the restriction which is the airbox lid, but likely all aftermarket intakes perform similarly. I'm of course partial to our design. :)

I had drop in K&Ns and switched to JT intakes and dropped .2 off my 0-60. Best mod after the tune.

I been looking for hours on threads to find out if irs normal im getting wheelspin when LC activates on start line? They havent prepped it yet since we had a long winter.. stock tires.. first time dragging..20190511_181524~2.webp

Second this. Tested Dragy with the exact same setup stock vs AP intakes and dropped .2 off 0-60 as well.

You don't need to trust the manufacturers. There is plenty of customer testing out there.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

It would help to get meaningful replies if you put your car details in your signature - not everyone is aware that all Canadian cars are AWD, and performance depends a lot on whether you have modifications/tuning done to your car. I expect you are using a VPN when posting, as the flag shown for your post is American.

I don't get any wheelspin when I use LC - I wouldn't expect that would be normal for an otherwise unmodified AWD, even on an unprepared surface. You are spinning all four tires?

We are also at about 3800 feet in my neck of the woods - as I see race slip show Mirabel, I take it this was on the island at under 1000 ft.

Sorry you are correct i am AWD and i have put in K&N air intake system with a borla pipe, nothing else.. but even before my mods i had same thing going on LC when i found out about it stock. 270 ft elevation at 50*F.
