The future of Stinger's cockpit looks brighter

Fugly, redefined. I sure hope they don't put that into the Stinger!

NO infortainment screen at all, with traditional climate controls, would do it for me. (Put the camera display into the dash)

I want 21 digital displays!!!

Wall to wall dashboard!!!

YEAH BABY!!!!!!

I actually hate the idea of removing all physical buttons from a dashboard. I think removing all the buttons make it really difficult for the driver to do normal things on the fly.

Keep in mind that Audi Virtual Cockpit is an option/add on which costs a lot. Plus, much of the functionality in the virtual cockpit requires a monthly paid service/subscription. Yes the display is nice (GOOGLE MAPS etc.), but is it worth adding the Technik Package at over $3000 just to get it, because all the features of the Audi's Technik package come standard in the Stinger Limited, yet will cost you well over $66000.

It's Google Earth, not Google maps. We have Google maps on our cars, no big deal.

But Audi's virtual cockpit isn't the only tech forward feature it has. It also removed the 2014 era "tablet glued on top of dash" look and integrated the infotainment screen(s) into the dashboard.

Tomato Tomahto. It is google earth that uses google maps as the base layer. It is a paid google service. What I'm saying is it ain't worth the price of admission.

Google earth and Google maps aren't the same. Or close to the same. Google earth is a 3D satellite image. Google maps is just...maps. For what it's worth, we can use Google satellite maps in our cars with Android Auto (and I assume Apple Carplay as well). It looks pretty cool but it doesn't give the 3d view of Google earth.

But forgetting that small piece of tech, Audi also puts the map (Earth or regular version) in the gauge cluster. And, like i mentioned before the infotainment screens, design, and implementation are miles ahead of what we have (and there's no monthly subscription for that).

And it cost at least $20000 more than the top of the line/fully loaded Stinger. I would hope that for the extra Audi $$ , one would be getting something of more value.

I love analogue dials. That said, the ones in the Stinger are not that nice. The whole instrument cluster looks cheap.

He wasn't arguing price. We know the Stinger wins that battle.

He was just saying he thinks Audi's cockpit/dash is best in the business.

I agree, I think the next redesign of Stinger may incorporate this type of design as the new Hyundai SUV Palisade has done it. Hopefully some one will wake up to the fact a screen sticking up from the dash looks dorky.

I use google earth on andriod auto everytime iI'm in the car because it has live traffic integrated, I love it.

Tech is good dudes! Lets embrace the next generation cars! Analogue is from the past :D:D:D
If the Stinger had tried for futuristic looks I'd never have given it a second look. Maybe you should have been the designer instead of those guys that liked the approach of a GT from the 70s, mingled with modern conveniences. The Stinger has retro European design appeal. It isn't a space ship on wheels.

(Ye gods, that is ugly!)

Agreed but what I'm saying is that the next generation Stinger in 5 years will have to adapt to the trend, that is why I am enjoying my current Stinger.

You sure that isn't Google maps' satellite view? I couldn't get Google Earth integrated with Android Auto.

I have used Google maps' satellite view in the car with Android Auto. It's cool for a while but mine always goes stupid and starts showing swampy blue-green areas in the corners of the screen like I'm about to drive off of the planet.

Why would enthusiasts be less appreciative of "retro" flourishes deliberately designed into a later Stinger? Who would have ever guessed that anyone, much less Kia, would come up with this car? Based on the look and feel of a 70s Maserati GT? "Are you serious?" But, they did, and we love it.

GT1 doesn't have that. But if it did that would be cool. Doesn't impact the "retro feel" of the dash analog gauges.
Hey Merlin you should order the Abacus special edition then ......................bawaaaaaaa

Yeah you're right, its maps with satelite view. I've never experienced what you're talking about, mine always works flawlessly for me.

I think it might be because I download maps and use AA in offline mode. Satellite view eats up a ton of data, I'm sure.

I like the dash.
I do prefer for the infotainment screen to be built into the dash and the bezels are too large.

I don't mind the Audi virtual cockpit but Mercedes new setup lacks class, we have a e63s in our family and the screens take away from the interior imo.

I'd expect they will go with a thinner bezel infotainment and a full digital display with the update however as it's a low cost way of "improving" the interior.
