The door rattle

You have to turn the volume up pretty loud (to 11!) and then you'll start to hear more of a rattle or quick flapping noise. Obviously, it's not the greatest, but I was trying to at least capture something.

Yep. I have the same noise. Sounds like it's coming from inside the lower part of the B pillar trim. I'm fully convinced it has nothing to do with seals in my case. Does yours happen all the time or only when you reach higher speeds?

Thanks for the response, good to hear I'm not the only one (sorry it's also happening to you). I do not hear it when I'm at lower speeds, and I would say that it typically becomes noticeable around the 50-60mph mark - at which point it is consistent. Because of that, it makes me think that it has to do with the pace in which the air is traveling over or through something around the window or the pillar.

I have the same noise, it's noticeable at higher speeds and going over tall bridges where wind is exceptionally higher makes it drastically worse.

It appears the noise has been fixed after dropping it off at the dealer for a couple of days. They replaced clips on both sides and I'm pasting the part # I see listed below. Their inspection listed that they were likely damaged during the puddle light install. Hope this helps!

I have this noise, and dealer cannot fix it even after they fly a corporate engineer in. The engineer said "noise is within decibels of specification" which is bullshlt because the rattle is not a NOISE THAT IS TOO LOUD. I will keep filing complaints until this is solved. Absolutely unacceptable for a $52000 car. I also have creaks from sunroof which they are not able to fix either. Worse with just the shade open.

sunroof frames needs to be replaced , had mine done 2 months ago

Kinda funny that the two different Optimas I had never exhibited a single squeak or rattle or creak or groan. And that's with a panoramic sunroof!

So I know Kia can do it. I have to assume the hatchback design is the root of all the evil with the Stinger.

You've called the part replaced in your Stinger the "frame" and others have said "rails" when theirs were being replaced. I wonder if they're one and the same? I'm going to be pushing Kia in that direction for my car. I let them mess around with the headliner, add a clip and it is 0% better, so I'm certain I need the replacement too.

I just did.

According to the guy, if the engineer says its "within specification", then their opinion is that it is not a quality issue and the car is designed to function so.

I requested it to be escalated and I should receive a call by April. 10th. I will keep everyone updated

I have the same noise that’s in your video. That clip connect side moulding to bottom of car I think. Did the the dealer explain how fixing that clip fixed the nose at the top of the B pillar?

Hi, did dealer explain how replacing that clip fixed the problem? Was wind getting in from under the car and up the B pillar to cause the noise somehow?

I have exact same problem and exact same noise on renault megane 2015. Its more of a metal noise.i have video but post denied?

I had the same noise also. Today I reached under the edge of the car to where the plastic piece that runs under the door is hooked on to the bottom of the car. I found that it was loose the whole way along its length. I could put my finger between the trim piece and the bottom of the car and feel the loose clips. Everywhere I felt a clip, I pushed up until I heard a click. I did this on both sides of the car. NO MORE RATTLING!! I hope this fixes it and I don't need new clips.

Edit: 100 miles driven today (6/29) and no rattling! I am a happy man! :D

Anyone figure out the door rattle?? I just got a new 2020 GT2 and yes I get the rattle at the top of the driver’s door at sustained speeds 50-60 mph but it gets louder as you go faster 70-80 mph so it does seem related to the wind or air dynamics. May try the lubricant for the door seals thing and see if it helps. Thanks for any input! Otherwise love this car!

It appears that loose clips on the plastic under the car may be to blame for some. Catches wind and the noise travels up the b pillar. May want to check if those are loose.

I found the rattle in my passenger door turned out to be the grab handle in the roof. Took it of wrapped the backing plate behind the headliner in felt tape and no more noise, took me ages to figure out it was that.
