Tail light alignment

Not denying that some of those pics looked skewed. Not sure what they fix would be other than loosen, reposition, retighten. Mine are spot on so I guess I'm lucky.

We're "lucky" that we didn't get one that is misaligned. But that means that most Stinger owners are "lucky". Here's a random Yellow, since we're posting them as evidence:

This wasn't meant to be an attack on the car or its owners. I know you seem to be a one man Stinger Defence Force but perhaps you should sit this one out. The fact is that my tail lights are misaligned. The fact is that there seem to be at least "some" others with similarly misaligned tail lights. Does this mean yours are? No. Does this mean they all are? No. Does it mean that because yours are dead straight that the problem dosent exist for others? No.

Thanks for this. It dosent bother me as much anymore because I actually notice it on every Stinger. Seems like the left taillight especially that is mounted on the trunk side is sitting too low.
Look in the Stingers in the wild thread. Almost every single left tail light is out of alignment.

You've pushed my "most or all" button, that's what's happened here. Yes, I will sound like a "one-man Stinger Defense Force", when your assertion is not accurate. Carry on. And I do hope that you find a solution. Did you try loosening the hatch lid light bar and shifting it and retightening it? Can you say that does, or does not, work?

Hmmm, just checked mine and a friend of mine Stinger. Both dont have the misaligned, but i discover some conspicuity on your posted pic See pic1. Made a green ring around it.

This part should be in line with the cars body, so it is at mine and friends car. See pic2 Yours looks like standing out. Thats not how it should be.upload_2019-11-5_10-37-34.webp 2018-Kia-Stinger-GT-taillight.webp 4a.webp

Here is the DIY for dismounting the rear light and side panel:
How to install body-colored rear side reflectors

guessing it can get easily fixed with that. Alignment and side panel. Only a few screws.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Your poor wife...

Ill take a look at that tonight. Thanks bud. Appreciate you looking for a constructive solution rather than just arguing that there is no possible way a Stinger's tail lights would ever be out of alignment from the factory. Of course I refer to Merlin who finally got off his wallet and bought a new car and therefore every production example of that model must be perfect to validate his purchase decision (I haven't quite figured out his psychology but I think i'm close).

You're a strange sort of cat. All I did was point out that what you see does not translate through the pics that you provided including your subjective lines. The point was lost in translation. Your car has misaligned taillights. Mine and many others do not. Let's stop with the use of superlatives here.

It’s worth noticing that alignment seems not the same for a human eye depending on the angle you look at it. Here you have the same taillight, which look ok on some and misaligned on others. At the same time you can see the panel itself (of a black hatch) aligning well.
If it looks aligned from one angle it will not look that way from another. That may be the reason why they are doing it. Depends how you look at it.

I’m still happy I don’t have to worry about this since I never see my own tail lights lit up!!

Good point! Lets ask BMW, Charger, and Audi owners if they notice our taillights are misaligned ;)

Yeah I'm the strange one. Your basis of comparison for everything to do with the Stinger is from a 1972 Impala. No wonder why you think this car is a laser crafted spaceship from the year 3000, and you dont have to pump the gas pedal to start the car...amazing!

No joke! My first car was 1972 Impala! I'm triggered! [sobs gently and goes to a safe space...]

Was your car ever placed on a lift for any type of work? Tire/wheel repair..... mods of any kind? I had a clip that popped out from the rear panel area after a flat tire repair.

And, when I removed my rear lenses - there is a nut with a bolt molded to the lens. The bolt was broken on the rear/passenger side. The bolt was fine on the d/s. I would check this. I bet it is an assembly issue.

I kind of skimmed this thread, but if you must know:

- My '18 GT had perfectly aligned taillights
- My '19 GTS did not, and like the ones pictured, my driver's side inner dipped lower and was more noticeable at night since the LEDs would conveniently have a "kink" in the shape; I had to manually adjust them for perfect alignment

Thanks for sharing, what exactly did you have to adjust though? For me adjusting the rubber stops just by screwing them a bit helped.

That adjusts the whole hatch position. I popped out the taillight access covers on the inside and loosened both sides so that the entire assembly was loose. There's not a lot of play in it, but I was able to push it while tightening it to change its position. I did also adjust the hatch position via those rubber stops, but that was minimal alignment of the actual hatch and quarter panel.

EDIT: Typo word.
