SXTH Element downpipes

thanks guys , I had HFC downpipes on my 300zx, never had any problems and hadn't heard of that before. HFC downpipes is on my list (I work slow), the Ultimate Performance pipes are laughably expensive (Tubi Style own them?), I'll likely end up with something like SXTH DPs or buy Ark and ask my shop to add some HFCs of my choice to them.
When I did cat less primaries and full exhaust with x pipe on my 300zx my turbos started to smoke like crazy. I ended up upgrading to ball bearing turbos it stopped the smoking 90% but it still smelled. Then I went from a x too a H pipe and that stopped it 100%. I will never go catless again.

Never had that issue with the HFC's and an H-pipe via an HKS Hiper, ran that setup for 20 years with no issue. That car was just bullet proof.

I would not expect you would. I switched to that hks exhaust and loved it. Running hfc would probably be enough to never get any oil issues. I wish I knew that was the cause back then it would have saved me 10000 in turbo upgrades.

Oh, you know you would have spent it on the turbo upgrades anyway ;)

Did you get a "hoot" from that exhaust under partial acceleration? Never heard that from any other car, but I think that the exhaust gasses moving at just the right speed across the H pipe made a hoot like blowing across the top of a bottle, it sounded amazing

I digress, we're off topic, but don't buy DP's without HFC's kids, environmentally, the smell (and associated eye watering) and leaky turbos just aren't worth it. I wish there were more off the shelf HFC options out there.

Any one had any experience using the Unichip dump pipes? They are using 100 cell cats.

I was going to say $990 woah but then it's in Aussie roos. I wonder about the weld quality. They claim any gains?

I’m not sure in relation to HP gains but they have been recommended to me by a local dyno tuner as part of a unichip package. I was more concerned if they would create any problems with the turbo seals leakage that was mentioned in this post ?

Honestly you money is probably better spent elsewhere. The gains are minimal at best, oil might not leak but why risk it, if you strip a stud your buying a new turbo (1k US) and they are also a pain to remove. So as far as exhaust work goes it's catback- midpipes-------------------------------------downpipes.
