SXTH Element downpipes

Yup, they responded and said that they're looking into the possibility of making an HFC version, but didn't tell me any more.

Update: At the second exhaust shop, this guy seems a lot cooler and willing to do custom stuff. He said he thinks he can get the Magnaflow HFC's to fit! He's working on it now. Ill update when it's done - hopefully I can snap a pic of it while the car is still on the lift.

Why are you adding a high flow CAT to the secondary in the first place?
I am trying to get a silencer added to the secondary this week to keep the sound down plus it will look like a high flow cat. :)

Primarily to reduce the smell. I'm going with Lap3 primary downpipes with HFC'S and I want to reduce as much stink as possible by adding in a 2nd set of HFC's since the midpipes remove them.

Speaking of stink, these welds stink! Haha, but at least this exhaust shop is willing to work with me - take a look. One is welded in so far...

And here it is finished.

Sound is very similar to stock, though you can hear it more while idling and during WOT.

Anyway, sorry to change the subject. But, hopefully this helps someone if they want to do the same, mostly pointless, thing as me. Haha.

It almost looks like you're losing a few inches in ground clearance. That would concern me greatly since my car's already only 6" off the ground, so losing 2" would be a nightmare, lol

Also, to people continuing to inquire, SXTH is still working on it, but it'll be at least another week or two before they're sure they can actually fab it up without having to run the cost up too much.

This is on an AWD G70, which evidently has a little more ground clearance than RWD Stingers and G70's, but not by much.. Even so, you're right, I've definitely lost some clearance! Even the ARK midpipes by themselves make you lose a little bit of clearance.

I figure if these things fail (ie cracked welds, or cats disintegrate), I'll just switch back to the stock midpipes. I really don't think they're much of a bottleneck.

Anyway, thank you for the update with SXTHElement! I think primary downpipes will make the biggest difference compared to any other exhaust mod.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Those welds look janky as hell. Not bad, per se. But sheesh.

Catless primary downpipes are causing oil to seep out of the turbos, be warned.
That happened with my 300zx when I went fully catless. It was billowing smoke. I even upgraded to ballbearing turbos. That helped a lot but still some smoke and bad smell. Ended up putting on a h pipe instead of a x and that stopped it.

Just to add some fuel here...
I talked to SXTH a couple months ago about catted downpipes as well. Dude said it would be 200 cell metal and be around $300 additional over the catless. Hope this holds true.

If so, that will be a really good deal.

I caved and ordered Lap3 catted downpipes!

Has anyone seen the quicksilver silenced downpipes out of the UK?

Go to quicksilverexhausts dot store and then search for stinger ~$700

Ill try the ARK DP first because i like the sound of the CB exhaust and the pair sounded nice from what I heard. If I need an alternative this is one option ill consider.

Looks pretty dang good.

Personally, after seeing the OBX secondary Downpipes, if I were to do it again I'd get those. Hella cheap, and they look perfect, and same diameter as ARK. FWIW I have ark's on right now.

Seems as if I can find OBX only for the AWD. What is needed to fit OBX downpipes to a RWD car?

The transmission stay brackets are in a different location between AWD and RWD. I wasn't aware they didn't have the RWD model available, though... :(

Do you have more info about this? I searched around but couldn’t find anything, not sure why DPs would cause leaks, unless that’s a symptom of overboost or something.

Something about not enough back pressure.

The seal needs to operate during load, it uses back pressure to help out, less back pressure and more boost causes the seal to leak.

However catless mids/secondary pipes are fine as long as the primaries are catted. Or so people say.

thanks guys , I had HFC downpipes on my 300zx, never had any problems and hadn't heard of that before. HFC downpipes is on my list (I work slow), the Ultimate Performance pipes are laughably expensive (Tubi Style own them?), I'll likely end up with something like SXTH DPs or buy Ark and ask my shop to add some HFCs of my choice to them.

At least one person here on the forums had turbo leaking using UP HFC primary. It has now been removed.
They also cause overboost and tuning head aches.
