I’ve upgraded my down and mid pipes, and intercooler with 3” cold side pipe. I also sent my ECU into Tork for a stage 1 bench flash/tune. This week I’d like to order the AWD KIT from eibach with lowering springs, front and rear sway bars, as well as the ATQ subframe chassis collar kit. I love driving up in the mountains with 15-25 mph curves. My question is, will the setup I specified above give me the handling to attack the corners or do I need to look elsewhere?

Thanks,
Chad

You want to calculate based on E30 which is the generally accepted safe level for the Stingers. Higher amounts of Ethanol can mess up the engine (anything above E40). To get the benefits of the change in fuel the JB4 adjusts to the mixture properly. You can change the fuel composition by doing a few gallons of the e85 and the rest 93 but it will be hard to keep track of what is the exact mixture in your tank. If you refill at half tank you will need to account for this (your current mixture vs what you need to put in I order to keep it around e30 total). In addition, the engine won’t be efficient to the new fuel mixture without the tune. Fuel-It in coordination with JB4 makes it easy. I have the JB4 plugged in to the OBDII to get the proper efficiency in tune. I hope this helps.
I’m not sure about how that works with a non JB4 tune. You would need to discuss your thoughts with whom ever did (or will do) your tune. But yes, either JB4 or other tune is required to properly adjust for the change in fuel composition to get the full benefits. Btw there are a number of people that have done a tune and layered the JB4 over the top of that.

We only have 91 octane in California, and our e85 has to be 85, no less. But I can’t use the JB4 anymore with the tune I had done. Guess I’ll just go with ordering some Boostane.

I would talk to whoever did your tune on how to adjust for the fuel composition. They may have insight. You may want to talk to Terry from BMS about the fact you have a tune already and the use of (or lack there of) the JB4 or adjusting to e85 with ideas. I’m curious. Keep me updated if you find out anything.

Is waiting for the Eibach pro kit killing you too? Lol. I called pep boys, where my kit is being shipped to, to find out what they’d charge to install the springs and sway bars. They said a little over $1.300. Lol f*ck that, I had my down and mid pipe, intercooler and charge pipe plus Oil catch can installed for $700 and that’s because I gave my mechanic $200 more than he asked for, plus I have him $60.00 bottle of tequila.

Yeah. It sucks man. I hope it’s not all the way till May. I’m waiting for a quote on the install. I did most of my existing mods myself (sans the catback). But I won’t do anything that requires a lift cuz I don’t have one. I got one quote for the tips and secondaries for $250 install. I’m waiting on a Kia dealership (yes you read that right) to give me a quote on the springs, sways, tips, and secondaries install. I can at least price compare on the tips/secondaries. I haven’t look for shops that do the springs/sways. Hopefully, the dealership will be reasonable (I know, right). I will keep you updated. At least the tips and pipes I can get now and it will tide me over a little till May.

Oh hell no, we should get the pro kit from Tire rack by the 2nd week of March. Here’s what I’m going to do and you should to. Every dealership has that guy that works on cars on the weekends. I knew several at each dealership back in Illinois. I’m going to swing by my Kia Dealership in Palm Springs this week and find out who that guy is there. I suggest you do the same. Even if you’re dealship mechanic installs aftermarket parts I doubt they’ll warranty the work. I threw my warranty out the window at 12,000 miles when I sent my ECU to get tuned.

This might be a stupid question, but why would you waste your money on a catback system? As far as I can tell there’s no increase in performance. Don’t get me wrong I think the sound of a cars exhaust is important but if I’m spending $1,500-$2,100 for a catback that adds nothing but exhaust tones. Then I’d rather have a quieter car that beats the shit out of a louder car any day. It just so happens I had a Charger next to me today that had a loud ehaust that tried to race me. The exhaust isn’t as loud when you’re car lengths behind me!

Yeah. Good points. I will have to work quick. My regular dealership is under different ownership now and the staff have changed. The Mod friendly dealership I found I have not used yet just talked on the phone. The secondaries/tips I mentioned I did get quoted an alright price (through a non dealer exhaust shop) all though if I really wanted to save money I should go find a lift some where I can do it myself because these installs are easy. I’ve read springs can be a bit of a pain so I definitely would want to get the mechanic in for those and the sways (an easier install) while he is in there. I hope by the second week of March we get them and the Eibach guy I talked to is wrong on the May timeline.

How do you like running with the aftermarket primary downpipes? I should be finally getting my Jun BL secondaries/exhaust tips in next week to go with my existing Borla catback. I’ve looked into getting the primary downpipes replaced but haven’t quite pulled the trigger because of potential overspool and CEL issues. I did look into ones that had HFC 200 cells to keep the CELs from triggering.

Some of us are excited by noise and are willing to pay for it.

Killed me having stock exhaust on the Mustang as long as I did. Who doesn't like the sound of barfing in a metal trash can?

Also, I'm getting the bug on the M240i since it is an inline 6, but very on the fence being a lease. That said, it's auto which is negative cool points, and also while the B58 in the BMW sounds OK, it's no 2JZ or RB26 when it comes to sound. Much more pleasing than the Stinger was, to my ears anyway. From all my cars, I miss the Probe GT (2.5 V6) and the Supra (7MGTE) the most for their exhaust note.

*raises hand* When you put it that way. :D But the 5.L Mustang across the street doesn't sound like that; it's musical.

I’m for anything that helps to remove restriction and increase overall flow (I know secondaries and primaries change ups offer more on this point). While the catback doesn’t offer a ton of gains like other mods, it still is part of the process for me. Plus I like the sound as others have mentioned. The only part I’m not sure on changing up is the Primary Downpipes (because of the complications I mentioned in my previous post). I’m trying to get more intel from people have done this and their experiences first.

****Update on Pro-Kit***** Just got off with Eibach (who are really helpful). While they said they are still waiting for the Front Spring Wire which they think won’t be too much longer, they did say that there are 4 Tire Rack orders for the Kia Stinger and 2 of the 4 orders are getting shipped to Tire Rack (and then shipped from Tire Rack to customers) next week. So, while he couldn’t really look my order up specifically, obviously we have a 50% chance of having our orders filled soon. I believe either way it looks to be quicker then May. Cross fingers. Lol.

I decided to say F’it and ordered the springs and sway bars separately. I received them yesterday. I called a shop and drove over to them so they could see my car and the parts I wanted them to install. I’ll be leaving this shop a stellar review. The guy at this shop quotes me $900 to install both. But in front of me he said I have a guy that specializes in suspension work and I think he’ll do it cheaper that I can. They installed the springs and sway bar today and it was only $500. I still have the ATQ sub frame bolts that they didn’t install but I should be able to install those along with my Ram air snorkles

Nice! That’s great! I think I only have a week more and I should get mine. I installed the snorkels myself. You should have no problem.

Make sure to drop some pics of the car with the new springs setup. I bet with the wrapped orange it looks tight. How are you liking it so far with the sway/spring setup. Any issues?

Just curious - where do you get the "e85 has to be e85" part? My local e85 pump has a sticker on it saying "minimum 71% ethanol".

Fuel_It has a test kit to know for sure that your E85 is that and not lower (If costs about $15 I think). Ethanol is a lot more inconsistent than the regular gas. I’m not in California but where I’m at in Ohio has pretty consistent Ethanol fuel.
