Stingers in VA

I wonder if that’s the Korean version from the sales floor. If they got GTs in that’s good as. Am planning on going there this weekend.
The Korean spec one they have is black with 2.0T engine. The blue one is GT RWD for sale and I think they got a red GT2 today too.

Ourisman's demo model was a deep chroma blue 4-cyl.

You're right. My thought process was like 'dark = black ' haha now I remember.

Went to drive the stinger today and wow, that GT was an amazing drive! You feel the power when you step on it but the car doesn't feel it's going as fast as it sounds until you check the speed, holy crap! It's been a while since I drove a car this well put together that the speed seems low compared to how fast you are traveling! While it was the base GT, it actually was quite nice inside except for the 7" screen. They just need to get rid of that and make all of them 8 or bigger.

In contrast, the 2.0T was sluggish off the line, my hybrid felt faster. I floored it and man it did not get going for a bit and felt like it was in 100+ degree summer heat and the car could not get enough air. Once underway, if you floored it the response was better but not what I was expecting. Granted there were 4 of us in the car but the power seemed off. I'll have to drive a 2.0T again but, I'm thinking they need to bump the power a bit higher, say to 290 torques. My S60 is a bit lighter and peppier, guess I was expecting a similar response from the Premium in sport mode but it seemed like th turbo was slow to spool up compared to the Volvo with it's 240HP and 258 lb ft of torque. The Volvo has an overboost function to give you 285 lb ft of torque for 10 seconds, KIA should build in something similar for the 2.0T or at least bump the torque, 2.0 GT anyone?

One thing I did notice, the ground clearance is similar to the Optima, around 5 inches, the wheel gap was there but it did not affect the handling of the car. I rode in the back and the feeling back there was quite comfortable and the rear end was very stable. I was expecting to be tossed around due to how my buddy drives but the ride was more serene than I expected. We set the piped in engine sound to minimum and the whole car was a lot quieter than I expected, up front anyways. In the back there was some wind noise but not much but it would be nice to have the same level of quiet as in the front, just nit-picking as I would get one now if I could. The sound system was great in the Premium as expected but I didn't spend much time with the GT's audio but it sounded ok. Overall a great GT car from KIA, we were all impressed with the performance.

Okay, now you drove the massively powerful GT and then got into the 2.0T with four people in the car. I can see why your experience in the four cylinder was unimpressive. :p I think the overboost idea is a good one. BMW does that as well. This is the first time I'm hearing about wind noise in the back seat - but I'm not sure anyone has gone on a drive sitting back there. I'll have to watch out for more people saying the same thing. It's nice to hear you like the car, though. I guess there may be a Stinger in you future!

Wanted to provide a small update...the local Northern VA and MD dealers are really starting to receive their cars now. Most of them now have black 2.0s base, premiums and a varying different colors of different GTs. My local dealer emailed me to say they got a truck last night....they received two premiums (black & blue), a black GT1 and a red GT2. The blue premium was sold for $5K over MSRP before I got there, but I did get to see the color in person before it drove off the lot. The micro blue is quite bright and the dark chrome has an interesting contrast to it. The red GT2 with black interior looked best to me. Although, the red looked a little different in person. It didn't look as bright as I expected, and it was darker like the Currant Red on my daughter's Forte. Maybe some direct sunlight makes a difference?

So now I've seen Aurora Black, Micro Blue and a HiChroma Red....just need to find Snow White and Silky Silver.....

Hersons Kia in Rockville, MD has a Silky Silver base and Premium. Also has a Black Premium and Micro Blue GT, and a Red GT2 in the showroom. I'm gonna wait until they get some kind of GT1 to bother test driving so I know exactly what I'm looking for, and don't see much point in test driving a RWD car with summer tires with the twenty degree weather we've been having lately.

5K over on a premium trim? That doesn’t bode well for the GTs.
Yeah, I couldn't believe that when the salesman told me that.

Oh, there was always a Stinger in my future, just which one! :) Of course if KIA don't change the options and colors and I can't get what I want, I might go Genesis. That 2.0T felt like the turbo was not engaged, much like my very first drive of my Optima hybrid with an almost depleted hybrid battery where only the ICE 2.0 was available or the car was suffering from heat soak. I've had a similar experience in the S60 R-Design on a really hot day, you push the accelerator and there was no boost.

On the markup, some folks are willing to pay it to be one of the first to have one. I saw a list of the cars they had coming in and a few were $2-3K above MSRP. By the time my lease is up, the 2019s should be here for a few months. I like the Volvo so I can buy it out and wait a bit to decide or work a better deal on one.

Yes, Genesis cars are a good option - and the G70 will likely be the best alternative to the performance and technology of the Stinger at a similar price. I'm sure Kia will be wheeling and dealing by the time your lease is up. You'll probably end up getting a much better deal on the Stinger, at that time, than the G70...

Hey all, new here and have been lurking for a few days now. I came accross this thread, and I think (am ashamed to admit) I am the one that paid the 5K over MSRP at Ourisman Chantilly. I am still within the "3 day money back" thing Ourisman does, and I am heading there for the rattling noise today.

I am pretty irritated by this, as I have bought 5 (yes, 5 KIA's) previously from them, and they had always been super helpful and nice. I plan to ask them about this, and the fact that other salesman were telling other buyers about it, and see what they say.

What would any of you do? Suggestions? I traded in my beloved 2014 Optima Turbo SX in Corsa Blue (fully loaded). I have been watching the stinger since 2013 when I saw it in the background of the Discovery Channel Speacial "Birth of a Kia Optima", and then in the KIA magazine in 2014....

There's a thread about the rattling noise already and the gist is Kia released a technical service bulletin (TSB) to dealers and by now they should all have the washers to replace on any units that got the bad ones. So if you mention it to them and they aren't already aware, tell them to check with Kia corporate.

If you love the car, and you can afford it, I could see keeping it. I personally could never pay a markup, especially not that high. 5k is a nice chunk of change, especially when there are others getting it for below MSRP.

If the Stinger was universally going to have markups until the 2019 models show up I'd say sure if you've got the money to spare, but my dealership is 35 minutes from Chantilly's and they've had only ~1k markups on 3 models that have been sitting there for over two weeks now. I don't think many people are going to pay markups, and if that's the case I don't expect them to last long. It's only the rare occasions when a dealership stands to net an extra $5k that keep giving them hope and leaving these markups to linger longer than they should.

I do love the car. She is a beautiful machine that is a ton of fun to drive. But I also do not want to be taken advantage of, and I feel like that is what happened, especially after buying numerous cars from them. I only ask because I am still in the 3 day period. Well I will bring it up with them today, and see what they say.

When I bought the car, Truecar was listing 40K as a good price. Looking at Truecar now, it has dropped a good 3K. Frustrating.

At the end of the day the Stinger is still "just" a Kia, by which I mean Kia does not have the established customer base than can afford to toss away and extra $5k for no reason. And, did you says 40k? You're saying the 5k markup was on the 2.0t model, not a GT2? I was thinking okay if someone bought an AWD GT2 for 52k and they slapped an extra 5k that's believable, but I can't imagine how on earth they got away with putting a 5k markup on a $38k (including destination) car. If there were any way to get my money back I'd certainly take it, then drive half an hour and get the same car for $38k, or at the very least tell them that's what you want to do and see if they at least could give you that 5k towards future maintenance or anything usable.
