Okay, well, we're going to start in the U.S. because most of our members are here. With a little strategic planing - we can also make this easily accessible to our brothers and sisters to the north in Canada.

We also have a large Australian presence here - so perhaps every other year we'll have a separate event "down under". Or, perhaps, we can figure out a way to have StingerFest there simultaneously...

In the meantime, we need to figure out where in the U.S. we're going to have StingerFest take place. We need to throw around a few ideas and then start a poll...

I think it would be best to have the event somewhere central/north'ish so that it's not TOO far a hike for anyone to come.

If we were to have it where I live in Florida, that makes it a challenge for anyone in California, New York and the central/northern U.S. - and it goes without saying - that would be quite a hike for anyone in Canada.

Same goes for Texas. California would make it difficult for anyone in New York, and New York would make it difficult for anyone in California. So we need to try and be fair and make this as easy as possible for as many people as possible.

I think Nebraska or Iowa might actually make the most sense...

But that's me! I want to hear/see your thoughts and all come to an agreement on where it would be best to host StingerFest...

Thank you!

hey, im in. love road trips. but, as a chef, i would like something other than fast food around wherever we meet. thats just me, i would do my own research, but, i am a city kid. too many trees and oxygen and i start getting loopy. either state is cool with me, never been to either one.

I've never been to either state either. I'd say let's do something really off the wall cool and make it during the NAIAS (Detroit Auto Show) or the Chicago Auto Show - but that's way up north - and I'm not sure how many southerners we could get up there. Plus, it's cold. Another thing that might scare people away. But boosted Stingers would be happy. :p

The cool thing about either of those options is the awesome car shows. But, let's see what people think. More or less, I think majority wins this one...

I agree about good food. :p We'll have to make that part of the event...

a little cold is good for you. its snow that is bad!!!!! chi-town rocks, great restaurants. and the detroit auto show was so cool years ago when i had attended. hopefully woodward avenue has been repaved, it was horrible.

well, figure at the beginning, if kia sponsors this, it will be more cost effective to do one event, see how that goes, then do multiple events. if they can get us discounted rates on hotels, etc etc, why not? its a great way to see the country

Chicago, IL.
I agree. It's close enough to Canada to still include that crowd, and it's still central enough in the country to make Florida. California, and the Northeast work.

Plus, I'm kinda already there, lol.

St. Louis wouldn't be a bad option either.. Omaha maybe.. Chicago would be a pretty big stretch for Floridians I would think.

You guys are making my lease mileage CRY!

Guess I just have to take off work a few months to counter the mileage to Stingerfest!

Fal... end of lease just buy the ride at that point.

I leased so I could buy a properly featured Stinger in 2021. So buy out is not an option or I would have already!

That was my original reasoning for going with a lease too. Then I had buyout revealed to me, and when I realized that the privilege of getting a new lease on a brand new 2021 Stinger was costing me in excess of $4K, the lease soured. I decided that my repugnance for selling cars had to go: I'd be paying myself that $4K+ to sell the Stinger, use the cash to "fuel" a new lease, and then buyout that lease to boot. And now I have unlimited miles: the limited miles almost made me not lease in the first place.

So back to the topic at hand, if you want to discuss the pros and cons of lease vs buy take it to the forum for that.

My suggestion is that there needs to be better representation from regional/local meets before a national/international meet is planned.

I’ve driven 1500 miles to go to events before, but I didn’t do it by myself or knowing that I wouldn’t know anyone when I got there. Our regional group caravaned and treated it like a vacation with our friends.

This can’t be the size of the Corvette, Z, KDM meets. There just aren’t enough Stingers in existence to pull that off.

Have a meet in LA with 30+ cars, in Houston, in Orlando, ATL, etc then get those groups to come to a single location in late 2019 or 2020.

I don't do north in the winter unless I fly to the auto shows. Does anyone know where the Stinger sales have been the highest? If you did Florida in the winter, you may get a lot of northern folks here on vacation. Or, they could plan their vacation around this event. We have a lot of Canadians in the winter. I would drive anywhere in Florida or possibly Georgia.

This, 100%. We need to have better regional event turnout. I know I'd drive 14 hrs to Chicago for a Stinger meetup, but I'd want to make sure it's gonna be a lot of people to make the trip worth it.

I drove by myself for a Mustang meet in Mustang Oklahoma because I knew there was a meet there and that their would be Mustangs there, not because there were 30 Mustangs in my area. If you build a national meet then people will come. :)

I understand the want/need for better regional meets first. However, all we need is 200 people to really get this rolling. If we can get 200 commitments, then we're officially good to go - and a LOT of people will be there. Perhaps many more than 200... Let's do "regional meets" outside of this one. For the time being, let's keep throwing around ideas for the location of Stinger Fest.

Really, I'm all for Chicago or Detroit. I don't know how many others are. I think it would coordinate really great with either one of those HUGE auto shows. And anyone who's never been to one - they're quite an event. We could kill two birds with one stone, sort of speak - and have the huge car show - and Stinger Fest - the same weekend.

And since Kia will be on board - and they'd also probably be pretty thrilled to have it based around one of those huge auto shows - who knows what they'll do for us...

But let's keep planning this and see where it goes. We're going to have a Stinger Fest this year - we just need to know where it's going to take place. And it HAS to be somewhere in the central/northish'ish United States to allow for our Canadian brothers and sisters a comfortable trip...

I wish we could fly in our Australian brothers and sisters... Who knows? Maybe...
