I bought an Alfa 156 in 2003 - new: they had to dump them at less than half the listed price to get into the marked, just before the facelift. I was deeply worried about the quality, however, thinking at that price the car only has to last a bit more than five years. During oil change the owner of the workshop told me that model was excellent since he had never seen an Alfa really broken - unlike his own car, an Opel. I kept the Alfa for 16 years and 230.000 km - I only had the maintenance done except for one hydraulic cylinder (clutch). The Alfa was great, surprisingly fast, fun to drive (in spite FWD) and economical. The only complaint was the local dealer - bankrupt now. I believe Squadra Tuning - Netherlands: the Diesel engine can last forever. I always suspected it to have more power than the official number. Recently I purchased a Giulia after having driven a 2018 BMW 3 series - no comparison. Squadra measured the output of the engine: 240 instead of 200 and almost 310 instead of 280 hp..... Yes I just joined the forum to post this - because I am sick of this Alfa reliability talk - get first hand experience !
