Stinger vs. Alfa Romeo Giulia

I have this thing for Alfas, there's no Alfas in Korea, so owning one is out of the equation. If I were to be in Europe, I may actually choose a Giulietta or a Guilia over the Stinger. Here in Korea, if you want a rear wheel drive sports sedan... there's no competition (in the same price range) as the Stinger.

Well, I drove a Stinger GT2 today. I really liked it. The salesperson said that we were getting on the highway and "If I wanted to test drive it,then now is the chance" He then put it in Sports mode. The gas pedal was more responsive and the car took off. I did not floor the pedal but I got on it well enough. It produced an ear to ear smile.
With that said...I think the Alfa is out of the picture...

Lets put the reliability issue to rest.
Check out the ratings from a major magazine in Europe. Alfa is rated #5 and Kia is #11. I'm tired of hearing about Alfa's reliability issues! That's ancient history. Today all cars are put together by Japanese or Korean robots.

Can't post the website for some reason. It's called "What Car" reliability survey

So that bothered you enough that you joined the forum to post about it?

The problem with reliability issues is that they don't just go away when a company fixes them. Think of how Kia is viewed all over the world. Many years after turning the entire company on it's head and shaking out all of the reasons people had to dislike the brand the reputation still stands with a large segment of the population. It takes time to repair a bad reputation.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
The triangular grill, though...I just can't.

Ahh yeah sure. Alfa reliable. Lol!

Love the Guilia breakdown right in middle of track battle!

Then Alfa that can’t make it up the driveway !

Funny as hell response from Jalopnik on Alfa crazies who go to such great length to defend the Italian rattle box of a car.

by the way, the robots are usually made in Germany. Unless you were calling Korean and Japanese people robots, which is just rude.

Correction. Japan, US and Germany all have large Robotic companies which are used in automotive manufacturing. Kawasaki, Mitsubishi and Yamaha all have big robotics divisions that have Robots in car manufacturing lines.

However Id submit that having robots doing assembly etc has nothing to do with product quality and overall reliability of a vehicle? In fact some of worst quality cars come off fully automated lines while some of best quality cars come from handmade lines. Porsche in many cases are rated highest in quality by JD power and they have much of their assembly done by hand. Also Nissan GTR has hand assembled engines and transmissions. Quality which leads to reliability is an institution that starts from point concept of car is drawn to point car is delivered. Has nothing to do with being automated with robots.

Getting back to the original discussion, I had also looked into the Giulia (Quadrifoglio), and would probably enjoy driving one, but there is ONE Alfa location in this tiny village of Atlanta, and needing to trek to the other side of town for any kind of warranty-related issue is a deal breaker.

Test drive both of them, it comes down to how the car makes you feel and depends on your pocket also.

I bought an Alfa 156 in 2003 - new: they had to dump them at less than half the listed price to get into the marked, just before the facelift. I was deeply worried about the quality, however, thinking at that price the car only has to last a bit more than five years. During oil change the owner of the workshop told me that model was excellent since he had never seen an Alfa really broken - unlike his own car, an Opel. I kept the Alfa for 16 years and 230.000 km - I only had the maintenance done except for one hydraulic cylinder (clutch). The Alfa was great, surprisingly fast, fun to drive (in spite FWD) and economical. The only complaint was the local dealer - bankrupt now. I believe Squadra Tuning - Netherlands: the Diesel engine can last forever. I always suspected it to have more power than the official number. Recently I purchased a Giulia after having driven a 2018 BMW 3 series - no comparison. Squadra measured the output of the engine: 240 instead of 200 and almost 310 instead of 280 hp..... Yes I just joined the forum to post this - because I am sick of this Alfa reliability talk - get first hand experience !

Are the interiors bad quality on the Giulia? I feel like I remember a lot of reviewers complaining about the cheap interior.

Hi folks,
Just an update for you! I just turned 25,000 miles on my 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia and haven't had a single problem other than scratching my wheel rims on a curb. This is better than my Audis, BMWs and even the Subarus that I've owned. I couldn't be happier. Only complaint is the A/C isn't strong enough for a black interior in the summer.
