Stinger second generation ?? maybe , maybe not ..................

K900 sold less than 6k cars between 14-17, many of them for far under MSRP.

They still found justification for a 2nd gen K900 so I don't see how they wouldn't be able to find a reason for a 2nd gen Stinger.

my dealer has the same GT in their showroom for 2 months now................

I would say it's unlikely. It's not selling that well and won't be needed to create excitement for the brand in 5 years.

Explain? It’s out selling the K900 and Cadenza by far, also the Sedona as only sold 2000 more units then the Stinger so far this year.

Rather than comparing it to other, unrelated segments within its own company try comparing it to its industry competitors.

The Stinger is doing okay compared to the models that Kia compares it to. One year in, and we'll see how it goes forward.

I guess it would also be different based on region. It seems like its seeing a huge sales success in Asian countries like Australia and Canada, a bit softer sales in the US and is more or less a flop in Europe where it's much harder to compete with the Germans.

Have to take into account worldwide sales and in particular, importance to Kia's domestic market.

While the K9/K900 hasn't sold well here, it is an important model for Kia in Korea and the new model has been selling at around 1,500/month (highest month being over 1,700) - which is around 3x what the Stinger does in Korea and what the Stinger does in the US (the high CO2 tax hit is a limiting factor for Euro sales).

The new K900 should sell a good bit better here.

The Stinger has been doing around...

around 1,500/month in the US
btwn 150-200 in Australia and Canada
btwn 300-400 in Europe (usually a little less than what the IS does in Europe)
btwn 500-600 in Korea

So, in its largest markets, around 2,450-2,700 a month or around 29.5k-32k a yr.

Is that enough to justify continuing w/ the Stinger?

Tough call.

Worldwide Stinger sales seem to be in the ballpark of current sales for the IS and Toyota is going ahead w/ the next gen IS (the GS, otoh, looks more and more to be discontinued).

What's been disappointing and an area where Stinger sales can certainly improve is for the base 4 cylinder engine.

That likely won't happen until the new (more powerful and more efficient) 2.5T replaced the aged 2.0T and better yet, if adjoined to a 48V mild hybrid system.

This set-up should, in particular, help European sales as diesels have fallen out of favor and the diesel engine in the Stinger is aged and more suited to something like the Optima and Sorento than the Stinger.

That being said, it'll be better if Stinger sales go back north of 1,500/month in the US.

If they discontinue the Stinger its going to become a very collectible car down the road and the resale value would likely become very strong. I actually think the resale here in Canada is going to be fairly strong anyway since you dont see many around.

I'm not sure if we'll see another generation of the Stinger. Most drivers on the road still don't even know what the Stinger is...we can all see this daily as people wander around and stare at the car trying to figure it out.

It's been out for 10 months. It's a very new car. You think people see a BMW X2 and are like "OHH THAT'S THE NEW BMW!"

Apparently Australians are buying the Stinger in droves:

And @forzanerazzurri: Contrary to your claim, the Stinger seems to actually be selling well in the US. Look at the August sales numbers compared to the BMW 4-Series (and keep in mind the 4-Series numbers here include the four-door Gran Coupe, the coupe, and the convertible):
Kia Stinger US car sales figures
BMW 4-series US car sales figures

But yeah, it's a flop :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I "flopped" onto the freeway last night. The onramp was a bit uneven as I rounded the corner and the Stinger went "flop" up and down while I roared up to 80 mph long before I reached the merge point and backed off. I like how the tires gripped with all four wheels as I flopped up and down. Fantastic!

I often wonder how man posts are planted here by Kia to try to create some buzz, peak interest and possibly generate a sales push. I think it would be foolish to not believe it happens in some shape or form.

They should try a new tactic then. Most of us already own Stingers.

What would you estimate is the percentage of Stinger Forum members who already own Stingers? I think it's over ninety percent.

I think that's a good guess.

the 4 series trends almost look like they have been impacted by the Stinger ...............tough sell for a BMW fan to make the switch , oh wait I did !! Bawaaaaaa
