Stinger second generation ?? maybe , maybe not ..................

latest
??? segment sales comparisons are completely "on Topic" when considering the fate of the Stinger ??

Funny meme tho

I often wonder how man posts are planted here by Kia to try to create some buzz, peak interest and possibly generate a sales push. I think it would be foolish to not believe it happens in some shape or form.
Conspiracy Theorist...lol, most of us here are already buzzed & interest is certainly peaked about this car, maybe Kia watches this forum for feedback on problems, likes & dislikes etc.

Hyundai/Kia made a huge investment (years and dollars) into the Stinger and G70. If the typical generation is 7 years, it'll take at least the first 5 model years for Kia to decide whether or not they will do a 2nd generation and what it will look/perform like. During the next five years we will likely see another world-wide economic recession, another round of very expensive gas prices, and much higher borrowing/lease costs. Those events will negatively impact the SUV and Truck markets, thereby potentially making a TT hatchback (roomy and convenient) like the Stinger a very appealing alternative, especially in the 2.0 TT variant.

Short synopsis, it is far to early for anybody to speculate on this subject, yet doing so makes interesting reading and might even drive some automobile enthusiast to check out a Stinger sooner. However, as a business man, I guarantee you they didn't go into this with the mindset of only a single generation for the Stinger.

I completely agree! This wasn't a "let's throw this out there and see if it sticks" kind of decision. They did way too much marketing for that. From what I see, the Kia peeps, wanted to get into the "speedy sedan" market and this is their entry. I think the sales will dictate to them what they will do next with this car, not to end the car's life at one gen.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
The Stinger is like an inverse-anomaly for Kia... Consider how famously bad the Edsel was for a big name-brand like Ford, is how incredibly good the Stinger is for a less-than-high-renowned brand like Kia. With every good review, the Stinger becomes even more legit.

Nah, if Kia was smart...Not only would they NOT stop producing the Stinger, they'd piggyback off the success and and introduce more "legit" car lines.

The Stinger has been doing around...

around 1,500/month in the US
btwn 150-200 in Australia and Canada
btwn 300-400 in Europe (usually a little less than what the IS does in Europe)
btwn 500-600 in Korea

So, in its largest markets, around 2,450-2,700 a month or around 29.5k-32k a yr.

For Sept., the Stinger did about a third of the sale volume of the G70 in Korea (the G70 did a little over 1k).

Since the Stinger does not sell as well as the G70 in Korea, it's imperative for it to do better in the US (which is by far its largest market).

Other than generating buzz when the Stinger was introduced, Kia doesn't seem to be trying very hard to sell it - and that early press coverage was for enthusiasts and trade press, not average car buyers. The Stinger is not even in any Kia ads since the super bowl TV ad, at least not that I've seen.

As to the future - Kia/Hyundai didn't hire Peter Schreyer and Albert Biermann to build only a couple of cars.

Remember when you bought a TV from Zenith, RCA, JVC, Mitsubishi, etc? Now that market is dominated by Samsung and LG. Same for house appliances, with GE, Sears, and others gone or losing massive market share again to the South Koreans. Could the same thing happen with cars? I believe it could, but Kia and Hyundai have a lot of work to do to get there.

Kia Stinger future hangs in the balance.
Posted in the Australian newspaper ' The Age ' earlier this week.

Yeah that article has been poached from a different journo and was posted on Wheels Magazine on 5/10 Kia Stinger facing uncertain future
And west coast started a thread on 6/10 from another link that had picked it up. Seems no journalist has an original story anymore and they all just rearrange the order of the paragraphs and throw their name on it and claim it as their own. When I was growing up writing reports for school/uni etc that was called plagiarism. No wonder major media outlets are failing their standards aren’t what they used to be.

That was a derail: the point is the article itself. The title is extreme, to get "clicks", of course. The central point is spot on: the Stinger was thrown into the ring to get attention for Kia. The model has accomplished everything Kia wanted: brand awareness upgrade; proof that they are now going head to head with automakers who have owned the high performance GT class for years; and proof that quality is already there and is getting better.

If the Stinger sells for two or three years and gets replaced, that just means higher resale value. Because once a great car, always a great car. Then its value is solely dependant on an individual car's care and condition (which is a product of its history: a well documented maintenance record will be a huge asset).

But if the Stinger sells for a full first generation and goes into a second gen, that will be even better for Kia, which will prove a lot of things: from savvy decision making to product and customer support.

Either way, we win.
