Stinger PDF Brochure

That's fantastic, they clearly have the materials ready, so what's the delay in just switching the units for the USA release and dropping the diesel info?

Does Canada use KPH like the rest of the world but still use horsepower and lbs/ft like the USA?

I assume they'll also have to customize it to remove any mention of RWD ;)

I think there is a lot more to it than that. There is a ton of information in this brochure that will not USA-specific. All of the pictures are of a non-US spec car, the numbers data is all metric and could also be different for the US-spec car, and there are several options listed in this brochure that are believed to not be available in the US (and there could even be additional options for the US that are not available in the rest of the world).

Still, this is a great find and at least gives us some more information and pretty pictures to look at, but this is better information for the Europeans I think.

"Does Canada use KPH like the rest of the world but still use horsepower and lbs/ft like the USA?"

No kpH, still hp & lbs/ft, BUT l/100km, km, no miles, sometimes ft instead meters, but 2x4, 4x8 etc. etc. whatever fits it seems. :)
It should not surprise: I grew up in the metric system and use metric & imperial interchangeably. Coming to think of differences - US Gal. vs. Imp.Gal....
By the way, German plumbing is still sized in inch (in German:Zoll). It all depends what's easier to use and more accurate in particular circumstances.
Ever seen a Japanese property survey? It's all triangles. Really.

Yeah but they've got it all laid out in a program, it should take some intern a couple hours to adjust it for North American release. Unless you think they'll actually change all the photos out too (not just interior)? I thought the European styling and GT tradition was sort of the point of this car, so it would be weird if they swapped those great photos out with ones of the Stinger on a NASCAR track or driving through a neighborhood of all identical McMansions in suburbia. Maybe something on the PCH?

You say it's not a U.S. spec car, which I know it's not because it doesn't have the always-exposed cup holders, but it does have the stylized STINGER emblem on the left of the rear with the KIA logo in the middle like it will in NA. Is there anything on the exterior that denotes this as a European model?

I think even just the place holders for the license plates being euro style as well as all of the units in the brochure being metric were pretty good flags to indicate that this is likely a European brochure. Could be Australian I suppose too, but really the only point is that this is not the brochure for the american cars so any and all information in there should be taken with a grain of salt and it should be noted that the US brochure will likely be made from scratch.

I notice they mention a diesel engine in the brochure. Any idea what market this is for?

Gotta say, I'm pleased to see the list of "real" colors. Looking forward to seeing Lake Stone and Deep Chroma Blue in the flesh.

Where did the notion that the cupholders will be uncovered in NA (but covered in other ROW markets) come from?

Both Korea and Australia will (or already) offer a diesel model.

I hope you get your wish but if we go the way of Canada (at least what you can pre-order) we may end up with just:
  • Snow White Pearl
  • Aurora Black
  • Silky Silver
  • Ceramic Silver
  • Micro Blue
  • Hi Chroma Red
With the black interior offered with all exterior colors and Red as an option for some.

Sorry, should have clarified. I listed what I thought was the "equivalent" color from the brochure to match what is being offered in Canada. It appears they just changed the names. I don't think anything "Canada Only" is being offered.

No apologies necessary, I don't come up with the names. Why do they even have different names in different markets? It seems though, that Canada in not getting the full Australian pallette, unfortunately.

From photos of the pre-production North American Stinger vs. ones elsewhere?

I'm still confused by which trims in which territories have the flat-bottom steering wheel though.

And was that posted recently or has that been there a while? Kia's U.S. site still has this, but it's been up there for a while. Maybe they changed their minds and just haven't updated the site yet?

I don't think they have finalized what is coming to NA yet. There are just a bunch of different pre-production models floating around with various different interior changes. Some have round vs. flat bottom steering wheels, some have open or closed cup holders and there was even one with a different shifter for the transmission. Most photos released by Kia have notes that state pre-production model, ROW model shown, etc.

So I wouldn't list anything as "final" just yet.
