Stinger PDF Brochure

And was that posted recently or has that been there a while? Kia's U.S. site still has this, but it's been up there for a while. Maybe they changed their minds and just haven't updated the site yet?

The site has a counter for pre-orders (another 50 days or so to go), and started at 72 day and counting...if I recall correctly. So it's been up for about 3 weeks.
My point is, that North America (US & Canada) can probably expect the same cars, at least initially, whereas Canada is getting only two models.

Great to see the brochure even if we do not know the target market(s). The unit used for power is PS. Where in the world is PS used? Even here in Germany PS (Pferdestaerke = horse power) has been replaced by kW. PS is only used as a secondary unit. But the brochure is not for Germany. We will get a Diesel but we will not have all color options (no Lake Stone), interior options are black, red and grey (no brown) and there are only GT Line and GT versions (no EX).

I wonder why Kia thinks every country needs a specific limited list of available options and combinations. Not offering a Diesel in the US may be reasonable but limiting the choice of colors? Doesn't make sense to me.

Not me. It might look nice for photos but I always go for function over form, and if some fast food worker hands me two drinks I don't want to fumble with getting a cover open, even if it's a simple push down and self-retracts.

@Bamm1 I agree with you on the photos that have been released by Kia and the fog that is surrounding their marketing, but
"Usually reliable sources" indicated to me, that the first shipment of cars to arrive in Canada may be expected by "early December". The timing for physical introduction to the public in Canada is set for Nov. 20th.
So, considering the time required for manufacturing and shipping, I do think that decisions have been made, and are final, but have not yet been communicated to us.
Anyway, I am slowly getting my financial house in order, i.e. talking to the wife.:)

If it comes with the cover it would be pretty easy to just leave it opened. No?

Oh definitely I will do that if it has one, and if they want to include the cover so that others can close it then it is what it is. I just meant the fact that I will never actually use the cover is why I wish it simply didn't have one. I'm always a fan of fewer moving parts. Same goes for the USB and AUX port, I'll always leave that cover open too. I'm not sure why everything always needs to be covered up but I'm sure it relates to how my wife always wants me to put away things that I'm just going to have to get out again the next day.

Exactly, it's about tidiness. :p

Why do they even have different names in different markets?
That is funny...especially how the red is called California Red in Canada, but not in the US (where, you know, California is actually located). lol

The cup holders on my current car retract into the center console. I leave them open until I get tired of trying to dig out all the dust and stuff that collects in them (generally when they look like the cat threw up in them), and then I get back in the habit of retracting them when not in use. Until I forget how hard they are to keep clean. Cycle starts again. What I mean is, I'd rather have them covered than not. At least then there's either option.

I can't make the assumption that the US and Canadian models will be exactly the same. There are times when they are not (VW Golf R for example). We have no pricing info, no pre-sale in the US, no on sale date, no website with model information (showing options and trim levels) no dealers asking for deposits, etc. Kia USA may "know" what they plan to do but until the details are offically released to the public I will save the "final" moniker.

Gotta say, I'm pleased to see the list of "real" colors. Looking forward to seeing Lake Stone and Deep Chroma Blue in the flesh.

I am new and happy to find the forum. I found this in my internet travels and hope this is not a repeat for those on the forum (I can't find it here, so I wanted to share just in case).

Back to the blasted cup holders--the email I received from Kia yesterday prominently featured uncovered ones in every single picture. Dang.

Lots of confusion going on with pictures and different markets. I hope we get the cup holder cover here in the U.S. As for the flat bottomed steering wheel, it should be all the GTs if I'm not mistaken. Again, different pictures are confusing us all...
Australia’s catalog has the covers so we will too.

I don't trust any of the pictures currently being circulate, even by Kia, because they all state pre-production model in the fine print. Same with pricing, steering wheels, colors, other options; it's all still subject to change.

I absolutely agree. The pictures are not to be trusted, neither are the lists of features nor their descriptions, wherever and how they are published. I tried to line up the " KIA Spreadsheet" ($12961_2018_Stinger_Features_Options.xlsx) with the Austrian price list and Australian brochure and found a fair number or outliers.
There are features included without qualification, i.e. "Temporary Spare Tire" should exclude "Underfloor Rear Cargo Storage"!

Or how about:
ecoDynamics ............................(Start-Stop-System, ISG = Idle Stop & Go)
CBC..........................................(Cornering Brake Control)
ISLW.........................................(Intelligent Speed Limit Warning - reads speed-limit sign and displays them)
HaloSonic-iESS-Technology...........(Active Sound Design - I suspect this to be the piped-in engine sound)
LBA-D.......................................(Low Beam Assist - Dynamic)
AVM..........................................(Around View Monitor)
DRL..........................................(Daytime Running Lights)
AHLS........................................(Active Hood Lift System - lifts the hood at the windshield in making contact with pedestrian. The Regal
has it too.
ESS...........................................(Emergency Stop Signal - fast blinking when decelerating fast & suddenly)
AMS..........................................(Alternator Management System)

There are more, but it is getting tedious to mark all the differences. Maybe whoever is making the lists or prepares them for publication leaves out features because they are considered not worth to be mentioned, like seatbelt warning systems or DRLs. Or it's left out for space reason when printing, who knows. But all the above is from KIA's stuff. Some you find on Wiki and has been Hyundai technology for years. KIA is dropping the ball when they don't centralise the publication of pictures and data in one office and control what's out there.
Do the Europeans sell cars like that? I don't know, because I never bought a European car, but I wouldn't think so.
