It is wise to wait for US reviews to find out about the subtle differences between the two cars.
Not only for performance but also options and things such as color selection.

Tried to talk me into putting down 1000 to reserve their first one..

Genesis USA stated late Summer on Instagram.

Some Hyundai dealers were told as early as June.

The G70 will NOT be shown at the NYIAS. So the announcement of the US specs, pricing, etc. is anyone's guess.

I talked a dealer about a month ago and he told me April.

Not that its relevant to US buyers but the local Genesis Experience Manager (Toronto ON) said the G70 would be available for test drives by the end of April. That's with the dealer network established, most of whom are working out of existing Hyundai Dealers. The downtown Toronto location has also established a stand-alone showroom and there is a mall location in the west end.

My understanding is Hyundai-Kia space like versions (same platform vehicles) about 12 months apart.

This has been the case with the last few launches, with Kia launching their updated versions first.

I am not sure about the duration or which company gets the changes first. But it happens to align with what just happened with the '18 Sonata. The Hyundai got a new 8-speed auto, etc. but its corporate cousin, the Optima, still has the 6-speed for the '18 model year.
